Having a President that can speak coherently seems so decadent now
After having to listen to Bush for four years, I think even MY expectations have been lowered. My husband and I sat and listened to Clinton's speech last night and it occurred to me that having someone in the White House who can open their mouth without sounding like a complete idiot seems so....odd. How sad is that???

At this point, Kerry better win or my IQ will drop too low to tie my own shoes. The last thing I want to do is morph into a freeper. :scared:

1. They hate Bill and Hill because of their brains
I talked to a friend after the speech and she mentioned how brilliant Billary are. But I'm weeping for plain old common sense at this point. Jimmy Carter, too, was lucid and on point. All we want is somebody who can put two sentences together. Is that too much to ask?

2. Have you noticed how high "they" have set the bar for Kerry?
With questions such as "Will Clinton over shadow him?" "What does he have to do Thursday night to make this a success?" and "How big will his bounce be?"

For smirky the bar is so low that as long as he doesn't trip on stage, he was a success!

Makes me wonder how they will spin the entire debate scenario. Smirky cannot win and they know it.

3. I agree. After suffering through Reagan and Bush I,
President Clinton was such a relief. And now we're back to a nimrod who mispronouces words, stumbles over his statements, and, well, you know.

4. Exactly my thoughts!
I have been saying that all morning. How wonderful it was last night to listen to American Politicians with a brain and a vocabulary above (literally) the third grade.

It was almost like the kids had finally gone to bed and the adults could enjoy a conversation for a change.

After witnessing real insight, courage, and coherency last night, bush and company looked like children across the country who dance in front of the TV screen while yelling in an attempt to distract the show.

I loved everyone's speech, and the way the simple truth was spoken so clearly was breath taking. "Bush lied about Iraq."

I am not crazy after all! I figured that I was the only paranoid American who did not believe their bullshit.

5. You said it perfectly....
"It was almost like the kids had finally gone to bed and the adults could enjoy a conversation for a change."

That's EXACTLY what if felt like last night. Very refreshing.

6. Organized anti-intellectualism is a symptom of facisim
From http://www.boycott-riaa.com/article/13154

Disdain for intellectuals - Fascist society tends to create an environment of extreme hostility to critical thought in general, and to academics in particular.

Ideologically driven "science" is elevated and lavishly funded, while any expression not in line with the state view is at first ignored, then challenged, then ridiculed and finally stamped out.

It is not uncommon for academics to be pressured to attack the work of their insufficiently patriotic peers. Writings are censored; teachers are fired and arrested. Free artistic expression in new works is openly attacked, and existing works deemed unpatriotic are often publicly destroyed.

7. I wish I was ignorant enough to be shocked by your post
Unfortunately I know this is true. As a Texan, I always knew Bush was dumb as dirt and I was soooo sure he wouldn't be pResident, but never in a million years did I imagine things would get this bad this fast. Who would have expected we would be able to check off every point on that Fascism list in just 4 short years?

8. Remember when the teleprompter broke at one of Bill's SOTU speeches?
He winged it - from memory.

Bush* would have had to stop his speechifying until they got it fixed.
