A few comments on last night
1. The speeches gradually improved from very boring during the day to Bill Clinton's outstanding speech. Clinton's piece was a marked improvement over his speech of 4 years ago, where he didn't do much to promote Al Gore. He clearly laid out the choices we face in this election without going nasty. None other than Dick Morris called the speech a "masterpiece".

2. The low ratings are a bit of a concern, but remember many people formulate judgements on the basis of news soundbites and water cooler talk.

3. On the one hand I'm gald the protests are smaller than expected--I don't want them to steal the limelight--but is that a harbinger of the RNC Convention? Will those protests--when it really matters--fizzle out as well?

4. I continue to wonder why press credentials are given to people like Joe Scarborough, Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter. Fox News is suspect too. These are people who will take their press credentials and use them to trash the Democrats, nothing more. There is no constitutional right to a press pass.

1. Agreed. And for those press passes, that is suspect too.
I saw bits and pieces of Hannity before I tuned him out. All he was doing was pissing on our Parade.

These Pubs have no shame. No Class, No Brains, and are very UnManly es[ecially when they attack the wives. Anything to win is their mantra. Anything.

2. Hannity sux Coulter is a man Scarborough could come around
Hannity spews the worst lies I have ever heard. He is an absolute evil evil person. He sold his soul to Satan. How does he sleep at night? Colmes is just as bad! Maybe worse! He pretends to take the rational approach but makes the good guys look weak and wrong. Coulter is the ugliest woman I have seen on TV in years. Scarborough - Now this guy could actually come around. He said he'd sleep fine at night with JF K in the WH.

3. Bookmark Your Post And...
Let's compare this to the RNC freakfest that's coming. If it resembles anything like Philly 2000, it'll be a real glaring showcase of how out of touch that corrupt kleptocracy is with the rest of the country.

The great thing Clinton did last night framed the debate that forces the GOOP to respond...and to try, yet again, to either shout down Clinton or top him. They always fail at both, and I suspect Kerry's people know this and how to transfer it to their candidate, or I hope so.

I'm glad to see the Reich Wing and Hate Radio goons at the convention. Let them into wander, spin, pander...better to have the wolves in our lair than brooding in theirs. There's not a Democrat out there who believes Faux is going to do anything but a hatchet job, and I suggest there are some of us here who are enjoying watching it as it's so full of bullshit. The discomfort these people are feeling is also a good thing to see and read. The good thing is the GOOP can't pay back at their hivefest as there's no liberal media for them to play with. Gonna keep CNNservative out? CBS? Air America?

The GOOP convention will be three times as boring as the Democrats as they'll attempt to put on the "big lie" again about how they're a party of "diversity". They'll trot out some black singers and make sure the acid tongues don't get anywhere near prime time. As Bill Mahrer noted in 2000...the last time I saw this many blacks surrounded by whites, the blacks were being sold.

I suspect the GOOPfest will be a total laughfest...and great pickins for us here. While they claim our convention was going to be a Bunnypants hatefest, theirs is sure to breakdown into a flag-waiving, wingnut showcase as the wingers in that party will want some red meat after seeing how energized Democrats are. I think we're gonna have some fun watching the mess inside Madison Square Garden.

9. GOOP
I love it! That's what they're throwing (with two P's) and may it boomerang big time.

4. I think the ratings will improve
Also, I agree with the point about the water cooler. And people could be following the convention on the Internet, too.

The organizations protesting are holding their fire for New York. I'm hearing between 250,000 and 500,000 people in the city that never sleeps. They better build a bigass cage.

6. You heard Scarborough's endorsement, right?
After Clinton spoke, he said he'd sleep soundly knowing that Kerry is presedent.

8. Faux "News" should have their passes revoked
I hate saying that sort of thing, and keep in mind it's being said in the midst of anger, but it's like having the RNC at our convention spinning their lies during our party. I hope AirAmerica gets into the repuke convention and does the same. Of course the repukes are smarter than that....I'm sure those passes will only go to those on the right.
