Senator Kennedy - a cabinet position for him or not? |
|
What are the thoughts here on DU about Senator Kennedy having a position in Kerry cabinet, once Kerry is elected? And what position?Or do you think he should remain a Senator?

He's done a good job as Senator.
Highly influential. And he pisses off RWers!
Keep him there.

He should stay in the Senate.

Teddy is also close with Edwards, so Teddy is gonna have a big hand in legislation next year I guess you could say, which means if I do work for him as I hope to do, I got a lot of work ahead of me but at least he wont make me to do position logs hah.

I don't think he's kept his law license up. There will be plenty of qualified candidates for the Supreme Court but there is only one Sen. Kennedy.

10. We need to keep our elected officials in office. Geeezzeee |
|
Control of the legislative branch is just as vital as electing Kerry. If he appoints all of the dems to office, we are just as screwed.

We can't afford to pull anybody from Congress, even if we're 95% sure he'd be replaced by another Dem. We've got to fight for every single seat in both houses until we get control back.

12. are you kidding? we need him in the senate especially with |

Kerry leaving the senate. Yes, there will ultimately be a special election for Kerry's seat and we will probably win it, but why take chances. Besides, Kennedy is the nations most effective liberal senator and we need him in the senate.

If they suddenly had 2 Neocon senators appointed by the Moronic Mormon carpetbagger governor, because Teddy got a cabinet slot?

15. I think the Mass Legislature passed a law |

calling for a special election if there is a vacancy in the senate but, you are correct, no way would the people of Mass want to leave the matter up to the idiot governor.

The right would go freaking insane. I am working on a "10 Types of Conservative List" and at least one type wouldn't like it
10) The Radical Conservative. A stark combination of rabidly anti-government paranoia, combined with the love of guns, one’s own station in life, hatred of anyone not Conservative and camouflaged clothes leads the most suspect of minds toward the Radical Conservative gambit. Paying lip service to every right-wing and/or fascist organization in the world, the Radical Conservative respects militias or may be part of one, would love to live in Idaho, “understood” Timothy McVeigh, and thinks all Liberals should be detained, deported or executed. Possible signs one is sliding down this path include but are not limited to denying the Holocaust ever happened, openly talking about revolution against Ted Kennedy and excess spittle dangling from their chin. Arguments with the Radical Conservative are not recommended.
