Do people here hate Randi
cuz she sounds like a New Yorker? And is a woman? I just can't imagine a midwestern man causing such anger.

I'm from NY. She sounds like ever woman I grew up around. She's awesome, but so many people here have a knee-jerk reaction to her. I don't get it - New York women RAWK!

1. That would be a stupid reason to hate someone
I don't hate her at all so I can't really answer your question but I hope that the people here who don't like her have better reasons than accent and gender. That would piss me off.

it's not just the accent. It's the attitude - a VERY New York kinda thing. She loves who she loves, she hates who she hates, and she doesn't suffer fools. I grew up thinking ALL women were like that.

But I prefer the Randi model of woman over the Laura Bush model. I think she's more appealing than Janeane on the radio, although I LOVE Janeane on film and standup!

16. I've not listened to her, but ...
There's a "funny" mp3 going around of her making fun of an obviously schizophrenic woman who called in claiming she was going to break news on CNN that Theresa Heinz-Kerry funded Hezbollah.

I did find it humorous, but getting a laugh out of someone else's suffering is cheap. One wonders what her views of helping the mentally ill are.

17. I don't hate her and mostly I agree with her
but I can really only take her in small doses and it has nothing to do with an accent or anything silly like that ... it's like some people were saying on another thread -- she does come across as very arrogant and condescending at times, even to callers who agree with her ... it's one thing when some right wing shill dismisses a liberal caller, but she's supposed to be on our side and she often treats them the same way ... I like her ok when she's talking about issues in the news, but as soon as she starts taking calls, I feel sorry for all the callers

25. No. I'm on the fence about her,
but she's unbearably rude and condescending to many of her callers. This may have changed, as I live in Chicago and haven't heard her show for awhile. It's not funny, it's abrasive, and completely unnecessary. I also remember her telling tedious details of her personal life and seeming a bit self-absorbed to me.

To me, her only saving grace is she does have courage, and says some things other commentators might not. Had nothing to do with the accent, IMO. But, of course, it's virtually impossible to detect one's own biases.

30. At first I didn't like her show much but I listened again and
found that her insight into issues, along with her ability to articulate sound reasoning with passion, won me over. I'm still not much for "shock jock", which was my first impression. But she so clearly state why liberalism is such a good thing in America. For example:

* Only during Democratic presidential terms has the US actually progressed in terms of standards of living, job growth, actually lowering dependency on welfare programs by strengthening them, lowering national debt, eliminating deficit spending.

This is an assertion she makes that she backs up with facts contrasted with the results of the actions of republican administrations that have cost our country dearly.

No one says it more clearly and decisively than her. She speaks with sound reasoning backed by researched facts - that is her source of conviction and sincerity. Contrast that with republican, neo-con arguments spoken with conviction and sincerity which are backed up by ideology and their own self-interest.

May Randi's voice be heard all across America, especially: "For once, vote your interest. Vote Democrat."

37. I don't like people well, like the repukes for example
who come off arrogantly. To me, arrogantly is a tad bit above confidently, ala, like, in your face. Randi is a great radio personality but she never freaking lets her interviewee talk! How about she doesn't interview people, you know, like Rush. He's so full of himself that he is the main act. Well, so is she! I think she hurts herself doing interviews. She wants to do the talking. Hell, have her interview herself.

I mean, when you're talking with someone do you like it when they keep yapping and don't let you--or someone else--get a word in edgewise?

I know I'm a out in the boondocks, uncool, non-eastern Midwesterner, but I'll take the manners game any day. That's on or off the air.

I understand she is who she is, and frankly she represents many people in the region she is from.

I remember calling customer service centers in NY, and was amazed at the treatment. I have come to realize that "they" don't see themselves as rude, "were" simply too uptight.
