Some thoughts on lowering expectations
Karl Rove has been lowering expectations for Bush and raising them for opponents for years now. Their latest : Coming out and saying "we expect a 15 point bounce for the Democrats out of the Convention" when there are only about 10% that are undecided in this election. This lowering/raising expectations game has proved to be a brilliant tactic. And it is.

For George W. Bush.

John Kerry does not need to lower expectations - not even a bit. He needs to remain steady and measured as he has been all along. I admit it, I was not a big Kerry fan during the primaries, Dean was, and still is my guy. However, Kerry has won me over with his obvious political acumen - and the measured approach he has taken. He clearly knows how to win, and he is also not afraid.

John Kerry should say he expects to do well in the debates, and it's a sad thing that the other side doesn't expect much from Bush. Everytime they lower expectations for Bush, John Kerry should remind them how Bush himself used to rail against the "soft bigotry of low expectations".

John Kerry should remain measured, confident and Presidential. Leave the lowered expectations for Bush - it's the only way he can hope to win - and if you take that away from him - it just makes him look like a coward.

2. Yeah, I keep hearing repukes claim Kerry should get a 15% "bounce"
from the convention. Where the hell do they get that number? Why don't they just say a 200% bounce? It's just mind games.

Apparently, the "norm" for a post election bounce is more realistically around 5 - 7%.
