1. No
He usually keeps Tweety in check and he seems fair in his analysis.

2. A couple months ago he was starting to get slightly critical of Bush...
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 03:37 PM by thebigidea
... now he's firmly back in mediawhore territory.

Dontcha just love that self-important raised-eyebrow expression he pulls to look more mysterious?

I wonder if he had that face frozen on his mug when Franken got him a date with Meg Ryan.

I'm sure it was a magical evening!

"Oh, Howard... tell me more about how Bush is strong and manly..."

"He's a very popular wartime President, Meg."

"But he's down in the polls this week, Howard!"

"He is? Well, then he's completely awful and terrible and people just don't trust him."

"Oh wait, I spoke too soon - he's up in the polls."

"He's a very popular wartime President, Meg."

4. I like him
he's funny when he's on Imus' show. He's very well spoken, and since he's not a columnist, he has been very "fair and balanced" whenever I've seen him on shows like Hardball, et. al. Plus he's an excellent writer.

That might be it...
Seems he's always slipping Gillespie's talking points into his analysis...maybe I'm just being paranoid.

I'm sure he didn't win it because of his balanced writing.

pasture

SYLLABICATION: pas·ture
PRONUNCIATION: pschr

put out to pasture 1. To herd (grazing animals) into pasturable land. 2. Informal - To retire or compel to retire from work or a full workload.

I'm guessing the comment doesn't refer to grazing animals, so definition number 2 is probably it.

There were rumors than the operator went to work for one of the campaigns some months back.

Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 04:20 PM by thebigidea
You didn't understand after several attempts by several people, and I tried to answer.

I explained "out to pasture" since it seemed to puzzle you, and mentioned the operator probably went to work for a campaign... which were the only real explanations circulating some months back.

My apologies.

13. Example: (repeatedly) People like Bush
not *Some people like Bush* or *25 percent of the people like Bush* or *reporters who fear for their jobs like Bush*. An entirely subjective statement that doesn't represent any particular facts or research. I wrote several times to complain about these types of statements from him but he kept it up, so when he came on, I turned the channel.

Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 03:55 PM by tom_paine
Just because he often writes as if he is using Newt Gingrich's "Contrasting Words" Manual?

Just because he NEVER misses a chance to bash Kerry and the Dems with his not-so-sly innuendo, sort of the Judy Whoredruff of the Cocktail Party Print Media?
