1. 1st speaker to mention Halliburton... woo hoo!
Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 07:18 PM by thebigidea
I can see how they'll spin this tonight -

LIASSON: "It was a dissapointing showing for the Democrats after monday, with no one able to recapture Clinton's magic."

FRED BARNES: "I thought it was funny how the Democrat Party hid all their most embarassing speakers on a tuesday, when nobody is watching: Kennedy, Dean, and Theresa Heinz-Kerry. What are the Democrats afraid of? Is this the party they hid on Monday?"

KONDRACKE: "I think Fred is right, in that its hard to claim that you're not going to Bush-Bash when you have bombthrowers like Ted Kennedy on the stage."

KRISTOL: "I was really impressed with last night, I thought the Democrats hit a high note that sadly, won't be reached again. Tonight was a real dissapointment."

HUME: "Its all downhill from here, heh heh... up next: Shove It. Again. Fair and Balanced, this is Fox News."

He's the man!
Americans need a genuine uniter, not a divider who claims to be a uniter.

Teddy rules. Period.

6. No family in modern times has given so much to the American people
as has the Kennedy family. Wealthy in their own right, they could have gone the corporate route, but chose to devote their lives to public service. And have been voices for those who cannot otherwise be heard.

This country owes this family a great debt of gratitude.

40. Say what you will about Joe Kennedy, the Patriarch.
For all his prosperity, he never forgot that many people still considered the Irish, and Irish-Americans, second-class citizens: "I was born here. My children were born here. What more do I have to do to be an American?"

He KNEW what it was like to be discriminated against. He taught his children well, and the lessons continue on down to the next generations -- though I am not sure how much of those lessons MARIA has absorbed. ;-)

I was just thinking he has been a bigger asset serving in the Senate for so many years - had he been President he might have served 8 years and retired - he is good where he is - and I freaking LOVE HIM

An on edit he should have kicked his son Patrick's butt for voting for the war resolution!!!!! Hope he did

He is more effective from the Senate. You do not necessarily have to be in the highest office in the land to do the most good, IMO.

He was BOMBING on Bush! And he has EARNED the right to do so.

The Bushes are WANNA-BE American royalty. The Kennedys ARE American royalty.

(I do not believe in the Divine Right of Kings, BTW. But, you get the picture.)

42. If they had,
he'd have told them to shove it. In a speech to the National Press Conference in 1995, Senator Kennedy said the following: "If the Democrats run for cover, if we become pale carbon copies of the opposition, we will lose--and deserve to lose. The last thing this country needs is two Republican parties."

Bravo Ted Kennedy!!

39. If people were wondering what the real heart of the matter
is in this election, Ted has explained it with a mighty oration that was soul touching. Ted's speech should be required listening before being allowed to cast a vote. While his voice cracked in places, it was a pleasure listening to the last surviving Kennedy brother speak about the very things his two older brothers fought and gave their lives for. An America that once again cares about its people more than its corporations. I wish I'd taped it.
