Why did the networks not cover tthe convention tonight?
Did they cover all of the convention in 2000?

Are they expected to cover all of the pig convention in September?

2. Well if Monday's ratings were any indication,

its because people don't care to watch it.

They say with the proliferation of cable news and gavel to gavel with CSPAN, the people who want to see it will.

I really wish we had people like Obama on in the national spotlight.

I think they covered 4 hours in 2000.

Only 3hrs for the GOOPers too.

3. Because reality TV and reruns...
...are apparently more important than the struggle to win back our country.

4. If they can't control the message
then they don't want the people to hear it.

6. I have two questions:
Why do they get convention credentials and cushy booths when they only cover an hour a day, and

Why do they qualify for Federal broadcasting licenses if they refuse to cover something as important to our public life as our conventions.

10. I'm with you. They should be required to cover it
for those who don't have access to cable or satellite.

They used to feel an obligation, but now they do not.

This country's fucked up.

13. Well, I guess we ought to CC the FCC every time
we write the networks to complain.

At least it'll be on the record, for if we ever get the country back.

15. Somebody put a stopwatch on it!
You can bet your ASS that the Pug Convection will get more airtime on the Big Three. We will see EVERY move that bu$h and The Dick make. And the well-groomed airheads at the anchor desks will swoon in admiration. Never will be heard a discouraging word.

8. Because RW media owners won't let them? I'm the Slime.
Kill your television.

Frank Zappa -I'm The Slime

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks.. Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livingroom floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go

11. the people of the US
were absolutely cheated out of the most inspiring rendition of the national anthem I have ever heard. That was remarkable, beautiful and left me in awe. Just amazing!

16. I was watching NECN last night
That's New England Cable News (owned by Comcast now) for those of you who don't have it... one of their floor reporters was commenting on this - he said he had spoken to some "network" people who said the reason they weren't covering last night's speeches was that they weren't NEWS. He was incredulous, wondering how the prominent son of a former beloved republican president speaking at the Dem convention could NOT be condsidered news. Or how the potential first lady, a day after these same networks reported so heavily about her "Shove it" comments could not consider her speech "news".
