2. I thought it was GREAT |
|
I'm a 42 year old white guy, and I loved it.
She's one person who can actually say "proud to be an American" since she actually isn't from here and had to put some work into becoming an American.
She's a reminder that America co-exists in a world with a great many other countries.
She's a reminder that you don't have to be a stepford woman to be a fantastic Mom (Look at her kids!). She seems warm, loving, smart, and no-bullshit.
I think she'd be a first lady we can all look up to.

I've loved Teresa for a long time anyway. I thought she was wonderful tonight. Especially, "I've got something to say."

She has it all, even without money. Brains, beauty, sex appeal, compassion, culture....she's a 10!
And when I read tonight that she is 65 years old, I was stunned. She looks about 48 or so on television.

A beautiful lady inside and out. She made me proud of my own Portuguese heritage.

|
of Presidents who are poly lingual.. More and more people are speaking 3 and 4 languages these days...tis the thing to do when doing the inter culture thing....and the only way to truly get the flavor of another culture besides the exotic dish on the din din table.

18. Great observation. John and Teresa have what it takes to UNITE the world |
|
as well as this nation.
A big part of it is bothering to UNDERSTAND other cultures. They have both spent their lifetimes doing exactly that.

No, she is not a polished, professional politician, but she is such an interesting person, and I was very pleased that she mentioned environmental issues.

15. It was good, not great |
|
She is completely different than Hillary Clinton, who is much more aggressive and 'in your face'.
She also showed that she is highly intelligent, and can stand her ground.
The speech was a bit too long, though. With her reserved style, she should have shortened it. She started to lose me at one point.
Still, it was better than I expected.
Not the most riveting speaker, and paled in comparison to Barack Obama, who had the best speech of the night, IMO. Obama really propped up the evening.

Too long to suit her speaking style. Had some good parts but I found it to be one of the less watchable speeches of the evening.

Actually the frist time I really had the oppertunity to listen to Mrs. Kerry was when they appeared on 60 minutes , and from that point on I felt very good about the type of person she is. Before this all I knew was that she was very wealthy , and I kind of expected someone who may come off as kind of a snob ! Well i could not have been more wrong ,she seems like such a warm and truely caring person. She is a great asset to Kerry in his bid for the White House !

23. As an opinionated woman myself, I especially |
|
appreciated it when she touched on this. Listen to the talking heads on any station and you realize that when it comes to respect, little has changed for women. Women are still supposed to be attractive, feminine, slim, and venture few of their own thoughts. The young "newswomen" are working hard to live by those rules, often to the point of being vacuous and anorexic.
Teresa H-K. politely but firmly made her point about sexist attitudes that say men are allowed to speak about their views but woman aren't. She also gave a good, wide-ranging speech about values (though the media and pundits can't recognize a discussion of values unless the word is repeated over and over.) My perception was that she is warm as well as intelligent, but the media shills say she didn't smile enough. . .

25. I've never seen anything quite like it... |
|
It felt more like a conversation than a speech. She has a gorgeous, low speaking voice, and she used it like a trained actress...trusted the microphone to carry it instead of yelling. (I love and respect Hillary, but she yelled her speech on one note, pretty much.) Watching Teresa draw us all into her warm cocoon, I thought with a smirk of Liddy Dole...who frequently takes a mike all the way into the audience in an effort to be intimate and chummy and fails utterly. The speech was strong and sexy. Teresa is strong and sexy. It's gonna drive the fundies nuts, which makes me very happy. She reminds me a bit of Jackie Kennedy. Back then, somebody said "American women look at Pat Nixon and see themselves; they look at Jackie Kennedy and see the woman they'd love to be."
