The Water Taxi's a nice touch
The subtle reinforcement and reminder of the "swift boat commander" image.

It's on all the news networks.

1. The Cspan coverage is great!
It's nice to hear the local channel acting like BALANCED NEWSCASTERS. Wish the cable news was like them-it's amusing to think that the local channels are much more professional.

11. I didn't think they were balanced at all
I thought they were making negative comments about Kerry earlier when he was waiting to get on the boat. Snippy shit is what it sounded like to me.

3. I honestly didn't make that connection
but you're absolutely correct. Obviously I haven't been watching any corporate "news" lately. I was thinking it was more for safety.

4. He's on w/ the members of his crew
CNN's discussing it openly. Showmanship, and he didn't even have to reroute an aircraft carrier or spend taxpayer dollars over a racetrack.

5. If it was chimp they would put him in one of those
civil war naval uniforms with the tall hat and tassels.

I hope this thing isn't over blown, it's kind of unnecessary.

6. If the majority of this country think invading Iraq was a mistake
If the majority of the delegates on the floor of the convention don't support the war, if dissent is suppressed, if protestors are caged, than just who is Kerry appealing to with his soldier boy act? America's children were lured into the quagmire of Iraq on a wave of nationalistic hubris and a patriotic frenzy and few raised their voices against the din of lies wrapped in the flag. Now those children of America are trapped in a nightmare and who speaks for them and the lies they are forced to defend with their lives? Who speaks to these young shattered lives haunted by the horror of war? And war is always a horror, but who speaks in defense of, in support of our troops, who were sent to their deaths for a lie?

So let me just say, Senator Kerry, that your soldier boy hero act fills me with as much disgust as Bush's aircraft wannabe fantasy. While you strut your stuff, reenacting a shameful part of US history like it was guts and glory, bodies lie bleeding on the streets of Bahgdad. Who will ask the last man to die for a mistake, Senator Kerry?

10. Subtle is the word
It contrasts so well with the shrubs landing on the carrier. This is tasteful and harkens back to Kerry's real experience - not the contrived shrub history.

13. Missed opportunity with Boat...bland boat - no real decorations
Would have been GREAT to have a banner with the the words "On a Mission" on that big open white space on the boat.

Would have made the contrast that they wanted to make.

THAT would have gotten news coverage and photos. The boat as is is rather bland and won't get more than a mention in news I bet.

14. I wonder how they're going to get * into MSG?
I'm sure Rove's little brain is spinning right now.

Here's some ideas:

A segway
His $3000 mountain bike
Catapult
Riding an elephant
Human cannonball
Bungee jump from a helicopter
Jet pack

to protect him from the protesters.

Oh, wait. They probably won't allow protesters anywhere near MSG. What am I thinking?

17. I like the boat thing...his crewmembers actually were with him....so this
is real...not like shrub and his carrier escapade....some theatre is needed....let's get him in the white house and get rid of the thug..then we can bring our guys home...first things first...even if wee don't get all we want..I opposed the war...still do...but we need to win to do anything..if we lose..all our troops are screwed for many more years along with the rest of uz.
