Are the Repubs trying extra hard to find opponent for Obama ??
Especially after his remarkable speech last night? Do they want someone, anyone, a hatchet man maybe, to tear Obama down a notch or two, even if he or she doesn't win? Just a thought....trying to stay ahead of the Repubs.. :)

1. no not really.
Obama will face a Green and a Libertarian on the ballot.

There's a sucking sound in IL right now, its the sound of the IL GOP deflating at a rapid rate.

7. Oh, I don't know. Why not run Tiger Woods against him?
Or Michael Jordan? All the GOP candidates are either sports stars, movie stars or sex/drug addicts, right? The media is on their side. I say, knock yourself out!

16. That reminds me. Dunderhead David Brooks compared Obama
after his speech, to... Tiger Woods!

Obama's actually had a MUCH better year than Tiger, who really hasn't won jack since the match play tournament in the spring.

Brooks could've compared Obama to, say, the Detroit Pistons, or perhaps Lance Armstrong -- but noooooooooo! </belushi> He had to pick another well-known person of mixed ancestry. What a moran.

4. if they don't
that sort of frees Obama up a little to go hit some campaign events for Kerry and that could be devastating for the Republicans ... I think they have to put some sacrificial lamb up there just to keep him honest and busy in Illinois

6. What an excellent idea !
Obama could help the Kerry campaign in a lot of places but Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin are all close to his home and he could campaign for Kerry in those states if he has no opponent...

9. Right now, Jack Ryan is still on the ballot
Less than a month from now, the Republican's fate is sealed. August 26 is the absolute last day they can put somebody different on the ballot.

11. seeing Ryan's name on the ballot will reiterate the damage he's done
in the mind of each and every voter who sees the ballot.

Can they take his name off and leave it blank?

10. After watching Obama last night
I'd have to think that any Repug with an IQ over 36 or so would be running right away from taking him on.
John
Of course, that still leaves Ted Nugent...

13. According to my friend in the Illinois Republican party…
Quite a few of them would prefer not to run anyone against him. Most of them, though, are looking for a big name, courting more former Chicago sports names.

they will find someone but he won`t stand a chance. i`ve got a feeling that alot of republicans will stay home.. guess what-------several years ago the republicans got rid of one party voting-now you have to vote for each canidate-it`s come back to haunt them ever since...
