Did Dean really not write his own speech?
I read some DUers saying that last night... is it true? What is the source for this information? Link?

(PS - to anyone who wants to interpret this as some veiled attack against Dean on my part - grow up. If you can't grow up, flame away. I don't care.)

1. No, he didn't.
The source is Dean himself. I have seen him say it twice on TV. Two former staffers of Dean who now work for Kerry wrote it.

It was not well-written, and why did he not have the teleprompter available instead of shuffling papers.

5. So of all the speakers at the convention Dean was the only one
who didn't write his own speech, and the media for some reason choose not to report this, even though it is the perfect story for spreading division among Democrats?

:wtf:

I find that very far-fetched, just as I find far-fetched the idea that Dean is suddenly going to allow himself to be used as a puppet mouthing someone else's words.

2. his speech on the floor was not the best one he ever gave....but the one
at one of the meetings, shown as a replay on CSPAN, was Dean at his best...no constraints...firing up the dems...and promoting Kerry.

That's the man that got my attention and who spoke to my anger and frustration. The doctor did implant a spine in all of us.

3. No, but it wasn't bad. Besides, it was the perfect prelude to Obama.
I'm actually glad that Howard didn't sap the floor of all its energy prior to Barack's masterpiece.

4. I had the impression that his speech was shortened
To get the convention back on schedule when CMB went long. It wasn't his best speech, true. Really the best part of his appearance was the obviously sincere ovation he got when he come to the podium.
