Obama: My real role model is Paul Simon
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 02:36 PM by RummyTheDummy
He said this during his interview with Judy Wodruff AkA the dried up old hag on CNN.

I rememeber Simon well.I just found this kind of touching. I would have never guessed he would have said Simon, who was great, but so completely unlike him in many ways. It also just re-affirmed the fact Obama is completely fascinating.

Obama said he was a man who showed you could disagree without being disagreable.

didnt realize that but yeah Paul Simon was a great guy, I remember him from my early days of watching C-SPAN, he had the geekiest bow tie but heh he was a good man. I also remember Gephardt who I know many dont like but I always remember from the early days.

3. Well, then I KNOW Obama will make a great Senator.
I was proud to have Paul Simon as my Senator. Idealistic, hard working.

That's something, all right.

7. Obama quoted as saying
"I have diamonds on the soles of my shoes. Well, that's one way to lose these walking blues - diamonds on the soles of my shoes." Woodruff confused. Story breaking.

10. Amen to that....
I grew up in west central Illinois on the Mississippi. My parents had great respect for Paul Simon. When he'd come to town, my dad would always make sure he went to shake his hand. My parents didn't always agree with him but they knew a good public servant when they saw one.

11. Simon's daughter did ads for Obama in Ilinois
I talked to an elderly hispanic man in my neighborhood who said that was all he needed. He didn't know anything about Obama, but getting the nod from the Simon family meant he was a good guy.
