Another Convert Story...almost
My brother is a hardcore republican. He is a selfish prick, and everything he does is for himself and himself only. Oh, and maybe for his family, too. He has been an outspoken republican for years, but only from an ideological standpoint...he'd never actually get dirty campaigning or anything. That's for peons.

Anyway, my sister is in the states from England. She saw him the other night and mentioned his reaction when the subject of Bush came up. Much to her (and my) surprise, he listened to my sister rip Bush a new one, then *gasp* AGREED! He said Bush is a total failure and an embarrassment to the country. Didn't say whether or not he'd pull the lever for him, but it sounds as if he may well do just that. HOWEVER...his typical republican trophy-wife also piped up..."I don't know what you guys are talking about. I think Bush is doing a fine job! It's a difficult job, and don't know of anyone who could do better."

So, America may not really be 50/50, but my brother's house apparently is. And it confirms many of the reasons that I don't spend time with them.

Not to make fun of your sister-in-law or anything, but a paper-clip could do a better job than Bush.

3. Next time someone says
Bush is doing a fine job, we should ask that person to give specifics. Or simply ask what part of his tax breaks to the rich do they like best? Or say Yeah, it's a good idea to cut back on military benefits for our wounded soldiers. I think if instead of letting people get away with saying what a great job they think Bush is doing, force them to enumerate exactly what it is he's doing so well.

Kind of the Socratic method used against these people.
