It's night 3. The excitement continues with many more great speakers. They include Sharpton, Kucinich, Bob Graham, Jen Granholm, Elizabeth Edwards and John Edwards.

You can see the whole list here: http://www.dems2004.org/site/pp.asp?c=luI2LaPYG&b=130846

You can watch online at: http://www.dems2004.org and www.cspan.org

It's a party. Have a great time people.

10. Edwards
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 03:08 PM by Comicstripper
That's my prediction, anyway. The people at the convention seem more excited about him than they do about Kerry. Understandable, I guess, but kinda silly.
Edit- fixed typo, and added this:
On second thought, it better be Edwards. He's got to prove to the nation that he can capture an audience as well as Bill Clinton, Barak Obama, and the like. I'm sure he'll do well, but I don't know if he can Barak the house.
Lame pun. Excuse me.
Wasn't even really a pun.
Forget it.

45. That was a great speech.
You're misreading it.

He's saying that those values were that simple. Democrats believed in that and more -- that the government can make people's lives better. Republicans just believe that you should pay your bills only and that the government couldn't do anything to make the world a better place.

That was a very strong speech. I can see why PA'ans are excited about him.

47. Lord. He's saying that that Democrats believe in that and MORE.
And always have.

He was talking about how naive Republicans were. He's saying that there's a whole reality that goes into determining how much your bills are, and how you're going to get the money to pay those bills, and democrats care about all that. They don't just tell you, "here's your enron energy bill. Pay up."

My brain's been fried lately. It really is a shame that winger lost the Repub primary. I was following it on the 700 Club (keep your enemies closer, and all), and the way the fundies were going after Specter was insane. I think they overplayed their hand.

84. Cheryl Jacques from HRC
In the interests of party unity I'll hold my tongue, but I'm glad *someone* from the GLBT community is speaking, even if it is from HRC.

90. This is the first time I've seen her speak.

I thought she did a good job just now, but I have nothing but contempt for HRC, which really ought to be called "Homos Like *Us*". As a queer person of color they don't represent my interests. They also snubbed Margaret Cho, who is probably one of the fiercest advocates our community has.

NGLTF is more inclusive and I choose to give them money instead. They pulled out of the laughably named Unity event at the convention this year because of what HRC did to Margaret Cho.

Edited 'cause apparently I can't spell for nuthin' today.

I love the details of the convention and it ensures that someone can go somewhere and see what really happened. :toast:

102. It was a sweet Anthem.
I do hope Brian doesn't sing at the Republican Convention also, like he did in 2000, of course.

I like to think that Brian's come around on his election selections!
