4. this is awful
what a waste and a travesty.

I'm sorry for the family's losses. All for no reason save Halliburton's profits and the bushgangsters' egos.

6. Does anybody really care?

How can a thread like this be addressed?

Two of my grandson's male classmates entered into the Marine Corps today. Yes, they come from poor families. Yes they were recruited prior to graduating from school this summer.

How can that be addressed?

Where are we as a society heading, when no one cares, when our children are cannon fodder?

Me? I care. But I am helpless. I am a Korean war veteran. I wish I could have talked to these boys before they committed to this other unjust war.

10. People care...it's just no one is listening
When I think of how all these deaths will be spoken of in terms of sacrifice and duty, I could just scream. It's just so "patriotic" to praise the dead, whose voices are silenced forever, with words like country, duty and freedom...not to mention the ever popular "safer from terrorism"....but to truly honor the Iraqi war dead, it takes recognising that they are dead and then telling the truth about why they died.

Any less recognition and they are being used in death as they were used in life.

11. ...doesn't appear the DNC cares much.
One of our candidates major strengths is that he travelled to another country to force US will on it and it's people - killed a few of 'em too from what I understand. Whoops!

Does the DNC see the viet cong as freedom fighters or a threat to America? - I keep forgetting.

9. If you talk about American / Iraqi deaths...
...then you're 'bashing Bush*' and that's not allowed until AFTER the election. Didn't you get the memo? We're the HAPPY PARTY.

- Wasn't it Kerry who said something about someone being the last to die for a mistake?
