If Saddam dies wouldn't Bush look like a moron?
Think about it... He invades and causes thousands on thousands of people to die, be wounded, or otherwise have their lives ruined JUST to take out Saddam. Millions of people/families - both here and in Iraq - have had their lives disrupted because of this.

Then what - between 1-2 years later he dies of natural causes!

Seems like bush should have waited. F-ing moron.

I hope to god Kerry says the above to his face in the debates.

1. If Saddam dies, Bush et al will get a free run...
Saddam would reveal at his trial all the times Bush Sr. helped him with what he is being charged for.

They don't want that stuff out, trust me.

4. Do you really think Saddam will be allowed to bring this out?
If they haven't already brainwashed him into what and what not to say, he'll never make it to trial alive. They'll tell us "he hung himself" in his cell.

The only things the thugs currently running our government are good at is thuggery

5. Exactly - Tin Foil Hat here, I know but...
doesn't his stroke and chance not to live long enough to go to trial seem just a little bit, say, CONVENIENT?

He looked fine to me a few weeks ago when called in front of the judge.

3. They'd say "But Uday and Qusay would be worse!"
Which we don't know really, Uday was the sadist but he wasn't in line to be president. Qusay was 2nd to Saddam, and we don't know much about him or how he would've run the country. Perhaps Uday and Qusay would've been killed in an uprising anyway and Tariq Aziz would've been the new prez, and that would've been more in our interest.

6. They would never take power
that's not how dictatorships work when the populace is unhappy. The moment whoever the dictator is dies it is seen as a chance by every group who wants power as the absolute best moment to make a power grab.

Many groups would go at it, and more than likely some kind "for the people" group would take power. It could be another dictatorship, but could very likely be kindler and gentler... Or who knows, maybe it could have given the people much more voice in government.

Fact is we will never know now. The Iraqi people, like the British colonists, would know when they wanted to take power for themselves. If they truly wanted to they could do so themselves just like we did, and countless other people have in nations all over the world.

Now they have an american puppet regime in place. And we certainly haven't made anything better.

7. What will Bush look like if Saddam doesn't die?
Much the same, IMO.

It is just plain wrong to invade a sovereign nation because you don't approve of their government. It is as if someone didn't like the way his neighbor treated his wife and kids, so he took a gun and shot the guy and took over the household. Even supposing that, in some ways, he was a better father and husband, does that make it right?

8. Of course
And if Saddam lives, Bush will look like a moron. If Saddam had never been born, the world would be a better place and Bush would still look like a moron.
