... in the Senate. If he's smart about his staff picks, he's going to do well (something Carol Moseley-Braun was not terribly bright about, I'm told). Someone I know met him while standing in line to file for election, and said what he heard was very impressive.

8. Kucinich -awesome speech.

I've heard much of Edwards speech too many times - and he didn't have as much fire as usual (though he's great).

Clinton - loved the speech but found the "send me" phrase not so good.

He's got fire like Sharpton, but he uses it to forge rhetorical blades of tempered steel. He's measured, energetic, like Mike Malloy would be if he were a politician. Someday, America will figure out that Kucinich was right all along.

10. Obama's speech

was one of the greatest political speeches I've heard since I started paying attention to politics a little less than a decade ago.

A lot of people said we were witnessing history watching that speech. I sure hope so. I hope we can look back on this convention with fond memories -- first of all marking the begining of the end of the Bush presidency (and dynasty for that matter), but also the begining of a great young politician that would one day become president.

Each one was excellent in it's own right. Bill got the message across. Barack got the idea of incusivness across. John got the message of turning two Americas into one across. Al got the idea of why Dems are important through. Teresa definatly got the idea of John being front and center when it comes to the tough decisions...

12. I loved Clinton and Obama's speeches equally....

Some of the Repubs (very moderate and truly nice people, not the type of repubs that disgust us at all) I work with have been "blown away" by Clinton and Obama's speeches. A couple of them said that they felt this convention truly was taking "the high road" and they've been very impressed. One lady even recorded last nights because she ha previous plans. She said Obama's speech (the content) was "one of the best she's ever heard in her life." She's 65 and catholic - really sweet lady. I have hope. I know several of the Orange Country repubs I work with really dislike * and could possibly go with Kerry. IMHO Kerry needs to hit a home run tomorrow night.....I'm sayin' lots of prayers (hey - if Obama said God is awesome in my "Blue" California state, then my prayers must work too)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (God, his speech was PHENOMINAL).

people that like bill are not going to be voting for bush. george and bill could probably compete for who is the most polarizing character in politics. i thought the point of the convention was to be an infomercial to help undecided voters swing over to kerry. by letting bill and hillary have the first day of the convention, i only think it hurt Kerry. people who are still undecided about who to vote for most likely dislike both Clintons, so i don't see how anything either of them had to say would be an aid to Kerry. if anything, they just cast a shadow over him.

i liked obama's speech. he offered a positive point of view that i think democrats have been missing in this campaign so far. i don't consider myself a democrat, but even i may vote for obama, not that he needs it since no one has the stones to run against him. now i understand why.

20. Clinton reminds people of 8 years of peace and prosperity.

Clinton consistently polled very well during his presidency IN SPITE of the phony and/or overblown (RW generated) scandals. Methinks you overestimate the # of Clinton-haters, my guess is the American people would take him back in a heartbeat.

Having said that, my original point was simply that Clinton's speech seemed to be more focused on Kerry than was Obama's. That isn't to say that Obama wasn't magnificent (hence, "close second").

that Bill Clinton won two presidential elections. Your statement that "people who are still undecided about who to vote for most likely dislike both Clintons" is your opinion. But has no basis. The Clintons are widely popular in the U,S. Their books sell millions. They raise millions of dollars. They both have an international following. Hate-radio hates the Clintons. Don't confuse hate airwaves with American voters. The Clintons won two terms and a Senate seat. You're attempting to marginalize two people with enormous clout. Your wishing they had less influence doesn't make it happen.

Spoke to my heart. We coach little league in the blue states and we have gay friends in the red states. There are no liberal Americans, no conservative Americans, we are the United States. And there certainly IS a place for a skinny kid with a funny name in these United States.

I can't choose between Obama/Clinton/Sharpton. All three of them gave me chills, tears and HOPE! Have to say that Sharpton really got to me tonight. That's a speech I'm going to want to hear again.

28. I didn't get to see Obama...

... but I almost honestly cried during Clinton's speech. I had almost forgot what it was like to have someone who actually cared about normal Americans in the white house.

I also almost got choked up listening to Dean. Not that it was a great speech but out of respect for what he did for the party.

I think this positive convention theme is great.

They have done a FABULOUS job with this convention - and it really is too hard to pick the best - Monday night rocked - and last night was on fire. And Tuesday was good.

There were both terrific. But I tend to like sharp, barbed, witty speeches so I was more effected by Sharpton's. But if Al weren't there, it'd be Obama by a longshot.

What about the 12 year old girl who suggested a Cheney "time out"?
