Al Gore in '92 on C-span 2
There's a value in watching these speeches. We can learn a lot from them.

I did not seek this nomination, nor did I expect it...

Bill Clinton and I offer this country the best chance to move this country forth in the right direction again. The country I love is failing my people. Those who scrimp and save and work hard all their lives... I'm here to renew a journey our founders began 200 years ago.

Our country is in trouble, and while George Bush and Dan Quayle make excuses, I've watched the berlin wall come down....

4. It was a leap of faith in 92......
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 12:57 AM by Gloria

Can't help but think what a leap of faith voters took with these two young men....they were ready to do it and they did it!

Now, are people ready to break away from the ossified and fearful present? Are Democrats offering people something worth leaping for?????

Gore------IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO GO....WHAT TIME IS IT??????

"Appeasing tyranny, betraying our ideals." God, he knew back then what was going on.....he was willing to talk about it.

ANd I see Lieberman in the 8 oclock hour, just before the Kerry speech.

WHY IS HE THERE??????????????

9. It was a grand leap of faith.
But they lived up to the hype and promise, IMO. This is what you call a vice-presidential acceptance speech!

7. This is a wonderful speech.
Standing there on the podium, he looks like he means business.

They have taxed the many to enrich the few and it is time for them to go!

They have given us bad choices, false choices, and no choice... and it is time for them to go!

They have ignored the suffering of those who are victims of AIDS of crime of poverty of ignorance... it is time for them to go! (crowd with him)

They have encourage and appeased tyrannies, while betraying our cherished ideals. IT IS TIME FOR THEM TO GO...

They have mortgaged our children's future, they embarrassed our nation when the whole world was asking for leadership on environmental policy... it is time for them to go (crowd with him)

What time is it?

IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO GO!

What time is it?

IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO GO!

Amazing how effective Al Gore was. He talks up Bill Clinton's record without sounding like a cheerleader.

13. Talking about the environment.
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 01:09 AM by Tatiana
You should give thanks to this man for our sound environmental policy during the Clinton/Gore administration. Gore really did bring a lot to the Clinton/Gore ticket.

The man I'm watching certainly isn't a stiff.

14. Watching Gore makes me feel so sad...
8 years... so much hard work, and hope, and only to be squandered by ChimpCo...

Have we really come this far away from where we were just 12 years ago?

Thank you, Al Gore.. Thank you Bill Clinton

16. Such passion from both Gore and Clinton....
Tonight I watched a game show host merely try to echo many of these themes.

The lack of genuine passion in the two chosen ones is really scary......

And seeing Lieberman rise from the dead to appear in the hour before Kerry!! Poor Wes Clark, sandwiched in there with him.....

WTF????????????

19. Wasn't even an echo, really.
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 01:20 AM by Tatiana
Clinton and Gore EMBODIED those themes they spoke of and they knew how to convey those themes to everyone.

Not so sure with these candidates. They are good ones. But watching this, I can't help but feel nostalgia.

God, Gore talking about his son getting hit by the car. If you look up from the rush of your everyday life, you will hear the clairvoyant voices of your nation crying out to you. I don't care what party you're in, whether you've been tempted to give up completely on the political process... If you have been supporting Ross Perot, I want to make a special plea to you... STAY INVOLVED. KEEP FIGHTING TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES!

Do not lose heart, this nation will be renewed.

Dammit, he's effective. This speech is brilliant. Simply brilliant.

If this party was smart, they would keynote Wes in primetime.

to give it a second breath of life."

Wow. Pretty much sums it up right there.

Ghandi. I'd like to hear Bush quote Ghandi (sarcasm off).

These two have soul.

I don't think there's much soul left anymore.......
