Republican Civil War (Them fighting within themselves)
I've been feeling this for awhile now, but Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarface admitted it tonight. The Republicans are divided within. The Democrats are unified. They are hoping that the Republicans hold together long enough for the election.

Clearly this is a strength for the Democrats. A war between the right wing base of the Republican Party (the people Bush represent) and the so-called "true Conservatives", who are people like Pat Buchanan. A battle between the NeoCon's and PaleoCon's. They both said that in the end the Republican Party is likely to move even further to the right.

What does everyone think of those comments, and in addition to that who thinks it would be a good thing for us (Democrats). Also, if you think it is a good thing what could we do to rip the scab off this festering and infected wound?

3. Okay, maybe tax cuts aren't enough. But they can always point and say
LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL
1ST MOST LIBRUL and 4TH MOST LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL

Thats a sure-fire road to victory, or so they think.

"Sure-fire" road to victory. Typical chicken-hawk meme. LOL

10. Hell, thats what they do
How many times have you heard the phrase "first most liberal and 4th most liberal members of the senate" this week. Now, ignore the pathetic grammar (first most liberal?), but one freaking source out of HUNDREDS that rate senators made that statement. It was based on a handful of votes over two years. Go back two years, and Kerry and Edwards are pretty much mainstream Democrats in the same freaking survey. But this one source grades them as 1st and 4th and none of our guys argues with it. So the Rethugs start screaming LIBRUL LIBRUL LIBRUL

It makes me sick!

11. hee hee
sorry...I should have put the :P my post.

I agree with you 1,000%. I'm sick of how they have managed to re-define liberal to a point when people hear it, they connect it with something bad. I'm so sick of them using liberal like an expletive that they look like they need their mouths washed out with soap after saying it. It makes me sick that they throw in "the left" followed by "out of the mainstream" and repeat it ad nauseum as if by magic saying it makes it so. Now that it's been so successful, it makes me want to hurl every time I hear the word "right" because they've managed to connect a perception of right is good, right is not wrong, right is what everyone wants to be, right is Republican.

How did they manage to get that side of the political spectrum anyway? We should start saying that while two wrongs don't make a right, three right turns are a course correction to the left...or something like that. <going for 2nd cup of coffee and to beat head against wall>

5. great news about them being divided!
I don't keep up with with they are saying (mostly come here for political commentary) so I was not aware of this!

I do see how united we are-and I am sure that scares them! We are working together--and we will run a great campaign.

7. You haven't?
I can see it clear as day. Look around. Especially around the economy. Listen closely and just try and feel the people out. Traditional Conservatives always accused Liberals of "Tax and Spend" but now Liberals are "Fiscally Responsible". Republicans are turning into the party of "Tax Breaks and Spend... and spend a lot", which creates these record deficits which the traditional Conservatives HATE.

The Traditional Conservatives, although many of them embrace the values of the far Right seem to have a huge distain for them. I'm not sure why, exactly, other than the fact there is some element of jealousy there and the fact that they are completely loony people.

Take a look at Scarface and Buchanan. They'll vote for Bush but he's OBVIOUSLY not their favorite person. They are OBVIOUSLY holding their noses while they do it.

The traditional Conservatives are pretty main stream. They respect the Constitution. They HATE John Ashcroft -- they'd probably string the guy up a tree if they had a chance. Their problem, however, is that they don't have *REAL* representation within the party. So, *IF* some type of civil war breaks out within the Republican Party it is highly likely that they'll shift even further to the right. This, of course, will dramatically weaken them. They won't be able to win elections even in Texas because the majority of Americans just don't believe in pulling back our civil rights "because we have too many", invading foreign countries because a handful of people have Imperialistic dreams, all the while on the home front running our economy into the ground.

*IF* Bush wins and that's a big *IF* because I don't think he will... then this is almost certain. I think this might be a good thing for Democrats, because if the Republicans are busy fighting among themselves they can't pass bad legislation. If Republicans are fighting within themselves that makes us Democrats even stronger especially if we are able to stay unified.

I am just wondering how far this so-called "Civil War" will go? How many will jump ship? Could we see an end to the Republican Party -- watch it fracture into two separate parties, effectively ending the two party system? If that happens what will happen to the Democrats?

8. Fiscal responsibility, civil liberties,
throw in Kerry's military service and support of veterans in the Senate, and we are going to be winning a lot of Republican votes.
