Would like your input on this letter I am sending CNN...
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 01:53 AM by myday38
This letter is a result of the shabby treatment that they give to
the Democratic members of our party in general....

Please feel free to comment.

Tone of Reporting. Commentary.

By what regulator do you use to set the tone of your coverage? I am talking in respect to your political coverage. Your hosts tend to lean right sometimes left, but usually right. And at present it seems... totally right.
Your journalism is not about reporting on stories that make news, but more like creating stories you can use as news. The hosts feel compelled to disapprove, disregard, poke fun, influence and make commentary on every show. Is not the event or story enough to carry the show, or set the tone. Do you think that we, your viewers are not intelligent enough to have independent thought? Is it not the job of a news station, to be bipartisan and to be the bearer of information that might not be brought to light otherwise?
Cable has become one big talking head. I am intelligent enough to sum up information when it is given to me. I do not need someones break down of the situation. What I don't understand, I research. I do not need, nor do I want, any reporter (I say that loosely)acting as though they need to comment personally on every bit of news coverage. Just report the news. And while I am here, your reporting of the Democratic National Convention, sent me straight to C-Span.
I got it with out the right leaning trash, commercial free and commentary free. Also, I would appreciate if CNN's news people would stop acting as though Democratic members of our government were not just ill-educated idiots that do not deserve the same amount of respect you give to any human being and many, probably most are more highly educated than the members of your crews. Their is and has
been a very real and obvious issue here. Brow beating is not always necessary and is becoming high distressing, especially when you people dropped the ball on SERIOUS in-depth news coverage regarding the current administration. Also in the past, every retired president has always been referred to as President So and SO.
It is a matter of respect. However, President Bill Clinton always gets referred loosely as, Bill Clinton. This is a highly educationed, highly regarded man. He served this country well for many years. He deserves to be publicly respect like every other president of our past time. I would seriously love to see CNN have more integrity. I am sure their are alot of talented journalists out of work right now, ready to fill the shoes of those on your staff that can't comply. Maybe it is time for an overhaul.

Dear________________,

I would like to congratulate you on your novel approach to convention coverage. In days past, a political convention was all about "rah-rah" for whatever party had spent all that money for their special "get-together", and the coverage of it was usually tame and congratulatory.

The "wolf-pack" technique that you have used this time, is quite a switch. I must say, I was a bit surprised when I tuned in to your cable channel and saw republicans as fas as they eye could see, "telling America all about the democratic candidate".. at first I thought the two parties might have switched dates..

It does seem an odd approach, but if it boosts your bottom line to rip the cnadidate and his party members to shreds at their own shindig, there must be some real fun ahead for the republican convention.. I may HAVE to watch it, just for the snarky comments by all the deomcrats you have lined up to attack mr bush..

May I be so bold, as to ask who is doing the commentary for that convention?? and who will the guests be??

Since it's been a republican slug-fest during the democratic convention, and the guy has only been a senator, and is a decorated veteran, I cannot wait to see the democrats you have on deck to go after mr bush's many blunders, and the juicy stuff about his "awol-ness".. You must have a research team burning the midnight oil, since there is so much material to refute everything mr bush has done (or not done) as president..

It will be a bit lonesome without all the right wing shills on the boob tube for those four days though..

No Bill (I-am-not-biased-just-ask-the-AEI) Schneider,Judy (Woof-woof, the lapdog)Woodruff, Tweetybird Chris Matthews, Joey (internkiller) Scarborough, Ollie(takin'-the-5th) North, Ralphie(Enron stooge for a while..republican lackey forever) Reed, Pat (kill-all-the-immigrants) Buchanan, Andrea (my-husband-does-bush's-bidding) Mitchell, Howard (the not-so) Fineman, Bob(spy, what spy?) Novak, Sean (Ain't I Bee-yoo-ti-ful) Hannity, Wolf(earpiece-connected-directly-to-the white-house) Blitzer..(or should that be Leslie Blitzer?),Candy(bush-better-win-or-I'll-pout) Crowley, Liddy(take-those-damn-blue-pills-away-from-him) Dole,

3. I love you letter!!! I got an anonymous email yesterday...
that said the reason that CNN had been going so hard on the Democrats was all the heat they had taken awhile back on their
coverage of the shrub and his basket of weeds. The email
suggested we write in and speak LOUDLY! I really don't recall
CNN or anybody else really getting that tough with the repukes. There is still so much they could bring out on them, but noticeably they don't. There so obvious it sickening.

4. Very clever and effective
Can I make one small suggestion? Don't include the nick-names. Personally, I like them, but I think it might come across as name-calling and will take away from the content of the message.

7. I probably will remove them before I mail the letters
I printout and use snail mail..Emails are ok, but I still like to know that someone actually opens the mail and may read the letter..

I also use colored envelopes, instead of plain ole white ones..:)

2. Great letter
You took the words right out of my mouth. I too have been extremely disappointed in their coverage and have been writing and calling CNN every day.
