Would someone tell me what this says....
This may have made the rounds and I missed it. Can anyone tell me what the inscription says? I can't read it.

I did take note that he has his fingers crossed. Someone should maybe tell him that doesn't really get you off the hook.

Thanks in advance!

2. Its been a while since I had to speak Elvish, but...
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 02:35 AM by thebigidea
One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

It lets Bush turn invisible, but it kinda eats away at his soul and stuff.

10. True. And the Grammar Goes Thusly:
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 10:29 AM by Unperson 309
Ash Nazg durbatuluk "One Ring, rule to them (all)"
Ash Nazg gimbatul "One Ring find to them."
Ash Nazg thrakatuluk "One Ring bring (forth or out) to them all"
agh burzum-ishi krimpatul! "and darkness-within bind to them all"

Black Speech grammar places the verb almost invariably ahead of the subject being acted upon. Since the Black Speech was a debased or artificial speech, they borrowed the Elven lettering, having no alphabet of their own.

In English, "bind to them" would mean exactly that, but in the Black speech, the 'to' is an amplifier.

I prefer the Harvard translation of the Ring-script:
"This Ring, no other, is made by the elves,
Who'd pawn their own mother to grab it themselves.
Ruler of creeper, mortal and scallop,
This is a sleeper that packs quite a wallop.
The Power almighty rests in this Lone Ring,
The Power alrighty for doing your own thing.
If broken or busted, it cannot be remade.
If found, send to Sorhed (the postage is prepaid)."

19. It's a piece of a larger ancient lore
Three Rings for the elven kings, under the sky
Seven for the dwarf lords, in their halls of stone
Nine for mortal men, doomed to die
and one for the Dark Lord, on his dark throne
in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them
in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie.

Or, in the original tongue of Mordor:

Ash Nazg Durbatuluk, Ash, Nazg Gimbatul, Ash Nazg Thrakuluk,

Agh Burzumishi Krimpatul
