The Network's Policy Giving "Equal Time" And "GOP Response" Is BULLSHIT.
... and this "fairness" policy will be completely forgotten during the GOP convention... just you watch!

Also... isn't THEIR convention supposed to be the GOP response?

1. It better not be
I mean giving time to Republicans to comment on the convention; that's not really a problem. But if they don't do the same for Democrats at the Republican Convention, than that will be an outrage.

2. Who will be the left's equivalent of Ralph Reed at the RNC?
We'll see the same centrist milk toast DINO's they always parade out on cable news.

10. maybe Noam Chomsky
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 09:13 AM by NewJeffCT
Reed is so far to the right that to get somebody that is equally as far to the left, you'd have to get a Chomsky or somebody like that. No Democrat in Congress or in the mainstream media is even close to that far left, though.

3. I wish they would just
shut the F*** up and let the people hear the speakers and not try to tell them how to think about everything!

Can't anyone just WATCH a speech anymore and come up with their own conclusions about it? What happened to independent thought? Did I miss the meeting?

4. What they don't realize...
...is that most of the people watching the convention coverage want to actually SEE the convention. We don't want to see Republican response all day.

Or maybe they just ceded to C-SPAN.

5. Yes, they will have Zell Miller as the voice of democrats on all their
panels. He will be there after all.

I have had it with the media. I am desperate for change!

7. Did you see him with Tom Brokaw last night after Edwards speech?
He is not only a disgrace to the democratic voters who elected him, he is a disgrace to humanity and common decency.

9. This is the most negative convention coverage I have seen
in my lifetime. Stop the equal BS already. The equal time IS the Repug convention. Just let each party have their say and stop bringing in the disgusting spinners.

Enough already.

13. it's not even equal, I've been counting
It's 2 to 1 Pukkes to Dems. That's bad but here's the thing that angers me:

CNN will show the podium speaker in the background, and not carry the audio of the speech. In the foreground, vicious Republican attack dogs cover the day's talking points with great giggling gusto, and pick apart the dress, appearance and personal habits of the democrats under discussion (mostly NOT the person who is speaking at the podium) There may or may not be a Democrat there (the lamest spokesperson available) to counter the critique.

Yet because the Dem is on in the background, they can claim "balance"

:anger:

15. They're gonna treat both sides exactly the same.
Just to be fair, they'll have Ralph Reed, Hannity, O'Reilly & Scarborough do the commentary for the Repugs too.
