Powell and Allawi in Saudi Arabia begging for Muslim troops for Iraq..
Even from nations that we have said harbor terrorists, it seems?

<snip>
Allawi and US Secretary of State Colin Powell met in Saudi Arabia on Thursday and embraced a Saudi proposal for Muslim nations other than Iraq's immediate neighbours to contribute troops to help secure the country in the face of fierce opposition.

"This is a global war. These are forces of evil who are acting against us," Allawi told reporters after he and Powell met for about an hour. "I call upon the leaders of the Islamic countries and the Arab countries to close ranks."

<snip>

Baghdad opposes deployment of foreign troops from neighboring countries, fearing these nations will fuel divisions within the country by providing support to Iraq's mosaic of ethnic and sectarian communities.

Some of the countries mentioned as possible participants in a security force - Malaysia, Algeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Morocco - are outside the region.

1. Boy, the Iraqis are going to have a hard time distinguishing between the
Saudi help and the Saudi terrorist. As we did. Most people don't know that 14 of the kidnappers supposedly came from Saudi Arabia.

3. those are the people who need to be there
But only under UN auspices. I believe that replacing so-called Collalition forces with Muslim UN forces would greatly reduce violence and unrest. Probably wouldn't need near as many either. Of course our quislings would have to go or get themselves fairly elected.

5. This situation REALLY bothers me
On the surface it looks as if the US is begging for extra help but after thinking it over, I'm suspicious.

If the new Iraqi government is as weak as some of us suspect, what is the possibility of SA taking over Iraq at some point? And if that's even a tiny possibility, shouldn't Israel be objecting?

9. It certainly looks that way
I thought the idea was insane several years ago, but all the actions taken in the past 4 years add up to an attempt at creating the rapture.

:wtf:

8. Good reason to be suspicious!
I am questioning every move they make before this election. I don't trust them and fear the desperation.

10. Iran is more likely to end up with de facto control of Iraq
We won their war for them.

This country is so fucking stupid that not only is it loathed around the world, it is now fucking howled at in derision

11. did Iran move their troops on their Iraqi border recently?
My friend was talking about that a few weeks ago but I never read a news story about it so I don't know if it was true or not.

Hmm. If Iran fights for it when Saudi troops occupy Iraq, then wouldn't we fight Iran in order to defend our "allies" - SA?? Just like fighting Saddam for invading our friends, Kuwait.

No one is believing the Iran/al Qaida connection so is this our way into Iran? Am I just grasping at straws now?

12. Iraqi-ization? Should work about as well as Vietnamization.
Bush knows he has an albatross around his neck in Iraq. The only thing saving him is the Democratic "leaders" pussyfooting around the issue.

You can expect Allawi and company to be living in mansions in California and decrying the loss of Iraq...to the people of Iraq.
