Does August worry anyone?
Forget the BushCo. surprises etc. for a moment. I'm a little concerned when I heard Mary Beth Cahill on CNN say Kerry won't be on the air (with ads) at all during the month of August. Meanwhile, Rove will be emptying his war chest.

That didn't work well in March, April and May for the Repugs, but I'm concerned now that the 'Merican people are slowly awaking from their blissful ignorance and starting to pay attention it might hurt more this time around.

1. It worries me
The Chimporer isn't taking his usual vacation this year. No telling what mischief he'll be up to!

6. Really?
What on earth would possess the Chimp NOT to go on vacation? What else would he do? Sit in the Oval Office and eat pretzels?

3. I think the DNC
will for once be doing something useful and airing ads while Kerry saves money. At least, that's what I read the other day, just can't remember where. And I would think MoveOn would also hit the air to help.

5. Olympics
No, I'm not worried about August, people will be watching the Olympics. And while Kerry may not be on the air, I think the DNC will be. If they show clips of this amazing convention, or otherwise show the Party as one of strength and hope, then we're still okay.

7. They can ride on publicity for the next 2 weeks...
then it's only really a 2-week hiatus.

We've nearly matched the chimp in fundraising, so it really just comes down to strategy. I trust the experts, and feel they don't want to burn thru their cash all in the first month. Plus, you don't want to burn out viewers w/ overexposure.

10. I live in Ohio...Give us overexposure
Endless "Pound it home" propaganda on AM radio has perverted a number of my friends.
After the drive home from work, they go straight to the TV.

An odd twist: One of my RW friends thinks that BOTH parties have been airing all negative ads, though surely his eyes have been sugesting otherwise.

AM radio must emit a mind controlling sound buried amid that static and squeal

8. DNC money and 527's fill this gap - we hope.
As far as I know, the DNC has 20 million (probably a lot more) earmarked exclusively for the Presidential campaign. I think they start spending it for Kerry on Friday.

The 527's are doing very well independently, and while I won't feel truly comfortable until November 3, I think the Dems are running smart this year and the money is definitely there.
