to all complaining about Jon Stewart
relax. Just wait until the RNC. His job is to skewer both sides, but he clearly attacks one of them a lot more, and when the RNC comes around, that'll be obvious.

1. I know
these Stewart complaints are among the most supremely silly ones I've seen here, and that's saying a lot.

Democrats are not above having some fun poked at them.

6. I hope dems don't think Stewart will close up shop
When JK wins the White House.

Bill Clinton, The greatest president of my lifetime, fueled the scripts of many a comedian. (And sad for some, still does)

I watched some of his interview with Couric...
..if people didn't see thru sarcasm and irony, then they shouldn't be watching Jon...he obviously was poking fun at people going crazy over Teresa Heinz-Kerry (the particular bit I saw he was talking about her).

Skewering the Bush administration has made his career... and lets face it, its a treasure trove for comedians. A rich, oily, treasure trove.

4. exactly
See some of the scathing ways he's poked fun at Kerry? it's the whole balance act, yes he is doing this and is being ordered to do this in order to maintain a large audience of not just liberals but maybe moderate republicans and the like as well, but that is his job whether you like it or not, he can't just come as a conservative or republican attacker.

However read between the lines, all the negative stuff he pokes at Dems and Kerry is more of an elbow to the ribs when you tease someone type material, but when it comes to repubs Stewart goes for the throat.

Anyone remember

:::Bush giving "victory speech"::

"I was not elected to serve one arty"

Stewart: "You were not elected"

::LOUD cheers:::::

5. He's under no obligation to do anything but make us laugh
Also, notice that when he makes fun of Dems it's stuff like Kerry's monotone voice...when slamming pukes, it's serious stuff

7. He'll poke more at the RNC
because there will be so much more comic material!

If the "worst" he can come up with at the DNC is how many times Kerry's heroic Navy service is mentioned, we've given him pretty slim pickin's!

I think the show was hilarious last night! I'm going to watch it again at 6 p.m. (CDT) because I missed Sen. Joe Biden.

9. True, but...
It's never as funny as when he attack the Pugs. All he can attack Democrats on is stupid superficial issues, Kerry has a dull voice, constant jokes about the Democrats choice of entertainers. It's just not substantive and not as funny. It always seemed so strained. I did think that his crack about Obama and Edwards exploiting their "hick" past for political gain was a pretty cheap shot. Jesus, Kerry gets relentlessly attacked for being rich, now Edwards and Obama should be attacked for starting out poor?
