The media is starting to make me really sick---how about you--
Its starting to look to me that the big time media and all the political pundits---(who by the way are all in the upper 1%) are going to elect the candidate to be in the white house----we as voters no longer have that right----even if your candidate wins the popular vote ---the elite make sure that their candidate wins the white house---in particular, the last election....
We now have the media making the decision that we should not bother to see the Democratic convention---ABC,CBS, NBC---its too boring and besides, we might hear something they don't want us to hear---

In my area, the only way I could get the convention is to watch PBS and who do they have as a pundit, David Brooks, the biggest
bush whore of all-----

I watch the news like everyone else---- and its slanted to pick apart anyone who has a shred of decency---for instance, John Kerry, John Edwards, Richard Clark, Ron Regan, Sandy Burger, Teresa Heinz---Bill Clinton, and Hillary, Michale Moore---to name just a few---

The big media seldom pick on our illustrious leader who hides down on the ranch taking paxil to calm his nerves

I have tried to reason with Republicans with how I am connected with and its like trying to carry on a conversation with a doorknob---
Their minds are just shut and why---because of the press---the big press to be exact, because these people do not dig any deeper then fox news , Rush, or Bill OReilly....and the most amazing part of most republicans in this category is that they are middle America, not the upper crust or upper income, just regular people who are trying to get by in everyday life...they want to believe or associate themselves with the upper crust---even if they cant ever be there----

It Kerry can branded from what I see right now a fence sitter, unpatriotic and who cannot make a decision, with his record in Vietnam, by the likes of Dick Cheney, then God help this country---

1. The popular vote doesn't elect the president...never has.
I agree with you, though, that the elite dictate who will win the election. They choose this person based on who will make it easiest for them to control the individual whom they choose.

15. 'Cause it doesn't matter who we vote for.
THEY elect whomever THEY wish and our votes are just something to make people feel good.

6. buck up
How can you buck up with some many ignorant people around you---and you know programs ( social)are being cut right and left here in NM and it seems that people around here and probably else where just cant make the connection between the Clinton years and the Bush years---
We have on the local news three minutes of canidate news (Kerry) and fifteen minutes of soldiers being sent off to Iraq and the big smiles on their faces going off to defend the country---We never get to see the ones returning and what their opinions are about what they saw---

5. I think...
we need to start letter campaign--spread the word---write all tv stations in the nation and tell them exactly how we feel. How awful and such whores they've become to this administration. Start bombarding the Brokaws, Jennings, Koppels, etc. with negative letters on how they're not doing their jobs. Write the network presidents and stick it to them as well. They're doing a disservice to the American public and we demand better unbiased journalism!!! It's disgusting that the big 3 networks did not bother to give full coverage to the Dem convention. I'm getting my coverage from PBS (thank God--although David Brooks of NYTimes reeks of Bush-licker). I can only imagine when the Repube convention comes around just how much coverage are they gonna get??? Uuuugggggghhhh!!!

8. On NPR this morning
there was an author talking about how hard the media has been on the Dems at this convention, they're picking up on all the RNC talking points - yet don't do the same with the DNC talking points. Will they be this hard on the Republican's infomercial/convention? They better.

7. Starting???

I've been sick of them since "Gore wears earth tones," and
"Gore said he invented the internet," and "Gore said he
was the inspiration for love story."

When Kerry wins, we'll get payback. We better.

14. Yeah, it will.

Mr. Copps would be the chairman of the FCC and I think he'd
have some things to say about media consolidation.

Oh, what an evil fantasy. We should flesh it out more sometime.

I think Kerry's going to win anyway.

10. The GOP led corporate media doesn't attack Kerry enough so some DUers
pile on to attack him even more viciously.

Aren't we lucky?

11. Worse than you might imagine
Michael Moore has this tidbit on his site now:

You know. I was on a, one of those morning talk shows and after we went to commercial, the person who was interviewing me said you know, you know, you are right, I mean when the war started, it was very difficult here to book the people we wanted to book, ask the questions we wanted to ask. In fact, I got a memo about my tone of voice. And apparently the brass had received a call from the Dick Cheney’s office is what--and said that he didn't like my tone of voice. And I got a memo on it to watch my tone of voice. Well you've got to tell that story! You've got to tell that story. I can't. Well why? They can't fire you. You are like one of the most well-known people in America.

The media is battle number one.

12. Never have I seen such blatant ongoing bias by the the whole lot
It is staggering to have to witness the crap that is now presented as news and commentary. The only way to keep sanity is go door to door and speak to people.

It is amazing how many people never watch or read any news and often appreciate someone taking time to talk and explain issues that affect them.

Yeah there are alot of doorknobs but there are alot of people who just need someone to present some facts and dispel some misconceptions. The powers-that-be are showing their determination to re-elect their bumboy. The media is in their pocket. Its up to individuals to get the truth out. There is no other way.

16. The problem is 'news' is strictly built on commentary now
Not facts, just opinions. It's to the point that anyone can become a journalist. All you need is a nice head of hair and know how to read your talking points properly when Cheney sends them to you.

19. You're right.
Here's what I hope happens during the repuke convention. We all know that the Media Whores are gonna fall over themselves praising bush*co. It will be a 24/7 love fest, nothing new. I am hoping people will take notice of how very different the slant was during the Dem convention. Personally, I think the Media are shooting themselves in the foot right now, with their commentary with regard to their "coverage" of our convention. If their bias isn't obvious to all now, it will be. Then again, I might be overly optimistic.

but I'll be damned if I let them make me sick! I refuse to use that kind of language because our unconscious minds sometimes take us too literally.

They don't cover The Shrub because he's not exciting news. They want ratings and dirt brings in ratings.

That's why I think we have to go negative to get the focus on Bush.
