My 13 year old daughter and I just got back from F9-11
she bawled all the way home.

She asked to go, and my spouse and I talked with each other and with her about what the content is.

She wishes she could vote.

Life at that age is so simple.

They lied, they need to be removed.

It is amazing the kids get it but the adults cant

1. Poor little honey. She can still help get out the vote, though.

6. I took my 13 year old son to see it
On the subway ride back, he told me "it was scary". I asked him what part scared him the most. He said: "the recruiters. Dad, what do I do if a recruiter tries to get me?" I told him to just walk away. He asked me if they would chase after him and catch him

Sad.

20. The recruiter parts scared me too
and I'm 26.

I've never seen recruiters do that before. Maybe they don't do that up here in CT.

Anyone have an experience where a recruiter approached you and acted the way those two did in F-911?

9. I took my 10 year old son
OK, I know that's young, but he's awful mature for his age, and I've tried to get him as involved and knowledgeable about politics as I am able.

The part of the movie that struck him was all the talking heads talking about terror alerts. He wanted to know where they were going to strike us. Scared the crap out of him. I explained to him that was from 2 years ago and it was mostly hype to instill fear in the American public. His reply?

"He lied to us so he can get more votes?" He was angry!

Then I had to explain to him that he was lying then to get us to agree to go to war. Now he's saying it to get more votes.

"I HATE Bush!" My baby!

12. I also have a 10-yr-old
I had to explain to her why the film was inappropriate for her, because she very much wants to see it, but I know she'd get too emotional about it--in an uncontrollable way, not in a mature "anger-is-a-gift" sort of way. She keeps asking me if we can mass-mail packages of pretzels to the WH. My little subversive.

13. I did have her cover her eyes during the human burning
I don't mind she sees some reality, but I knew that would be too much.

she just about come out of her seat when they were stitching that little child up

and after the first bomb, they were carrying that boy she asked if he wet his pants before he died?

I didn't even notice that the first 3 times I saw this movie

It is amazing the perspective kids give you

14. I did some eye covering too!
I feel, though, that kids are subjected to so much violence these days on TV and video games that they are becoming immune. But then that's another thread...

By the way, I bawled all the way home and for hours afterwards. Both my husband and son said they could hear me crying while we were watching F911.

Way emotional for me. Way.

15. Yes, I think the negative effect for my daughter
would outweigh the payoff. She already knows this stuff already; I give it to her in measured doses. She does not need the graphics! She also reads DU!

16. she pleaded with me for weeks to let her see this movie
I waited until this week thinking it would not be busy, we went at 11:45 and I was mistaken about the crowd. It was packed and got the standing applause at the end

10. She may not be voting this time...
...and at 13 she may just miss 2008, but she'll be voting after that. And one hopes she'll vote in all the smaller elections once she's of age.

The hing for her to remember is: they don't just need to be removed, they need to be KEPT OUT. One election won't do it. We need to take back the Congress and restore integrity to the media, and that's a long fight. Teach her to keep her "eyes on the prize."
