"The Democratic Party has become a party of doves."
So says CNN Bill Schneider, over and over again.

I've been going through CNN transcripts and have found this meme pushed lots of times. They point out that most of the delegates in some poll say they opposed the Iraq war.

However, I bet a majority supported the Afghanistan war.

If you oppose a war because you think it is unwise that DOES NOT make you some kind of dove.

Fuck you CNN.

2. Haven't you gotten the memo?
They're doing their best to try and portray us as divided, but it's not working in the least. The Democrats are united under the banner of sending Bush to hell where he belongs, and nothing Bill O'Lielly, The Corpse Formerly Known as Judy Woodruff, or anyone else can say will change that!

8. The Party has. The "leadership" hasn't.
We're still waiting for them to finally get the message that they work for us.

9. No,Mr. Schneider

we are not the party of doves, but rather the party of eagles,
like our national emblem. But the eagle carries both a clutch
of arrows and an olive branch, signifying to the world that the
United States can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Many
in the world have found out what that means. But we should not
sling the arrows of war heedlessly or recklessly, and we should
extend the olive branch to all who would be our friend, and even
to those who may not be our friend but do not attack us.

We democrats simply want the United States to continue in this
tradition. So we offer our own olive branch to those independents
and Republicans who would not do us and our nation harm. But like
the Eagle, we democrats can sling arrows too, and will not hesitate
to do battle with those that attack us.

11. But how come being AGAINST war is considered BAD?
What's wrong with being against war?

Furthermore, who is really "in favor" of war?

Is it wrong to be opposed to meaningless death, destruction, waste, physical, mental and emotional violence?

Better yet, why do the Democrats seem to think they need to play "mine's bigger" with Republicans about war?

Did you know that the Taliban was ready to turn over bin Laden to us, if we produced proof that he was involved with 9/11?

Did you know that when presented with this option days before the Afghani invasion, GeeDubya said NO?

If you don't believe me, look it up. Several papers reported on the offer, but it quickly went "down the memory hole" as they say, as our bloodlust was running hot in those fearful days in the autumn of 2001.

But, instead of getting our hands on bin Laden and giving him a trial for all the world to see, we insisted on invading Afghanistan, and replacing the old band of thugs will a new band of thugs-- ones that follow our orders better, at least.

Who cares if we bombed what little infrastructure was left in that country back to the pre-stone age? Who cares that we killed many thousands of innocents who were just trying to live their painfully short little lives? We LIBERATED THEM, gosh-darnit-- from their lives, that is. OOOPS  our bad.

And look what we've "accomplished" in Afghanistan, too! An ex-consultant to Unocal (who are building a nice profitable pipeline through the country) is the new ruler! The Taliban is STILL on the run! Bin Laden remains UNCAPTURED! Citizens of neighboring countries are now MORE ALIENATED THAN EVER!

Yup, war is a beautiful thing. Especially when it enriches our war industry. Gotta create them new jobs, y'know....

14. The term should be 'smart hawks'
Virtually every democrat who opposed the war in Iraq supported the war in Afghanistan.

The issue is wisdom, not war.
