"Kerry Must Deliver 'Speech of His Life'" --- MEDIA
This is the line the media's pushing, and it worries me. I'm getting VERY nervous about tonight. All you here on every network is that Kerry has to deliver *The Speech of His Life* or *The Best Speech He's Ever Given* or the fucking *Best Speech Since the Cross of Gold* (Okay, maybe I'm going a little bit too far)

I'm not usually a conspiracy-theorist, but I do think this is the line Bushco is pushing, so to set up impossibly high expectations that Kerry cannot then meet. It disgusts me. I just hope and pray he does well enough.

5. I think they're foaming at the mouth in anticipation. They can't wait to
pan the speech and proceed to pen Kerry's presidential obituary. I've been mentally preparing myself all week.

20. That would be great
Put all the media BS into perspective and then move forward with the speech. Not sure if Kerry has really caught on yet that he could say this and actually gain votes.

4. The double standard is appalling.
Bush only has to escape without a major gaffe - like on the order of giving a Nazi salute; Kerry has to outperform God.

I frankly don't think that's true. Yes, his speech is important, but it's not that critical. The hatred of Bushco is running pretty deep. People just want CONFIRMATION that Kerry can pull it off. Is our trust in him warranted? Is he capable of carrying out the primary duties of president? That's what I think he should focus on.

19. God on a good day
I just put up a short blog saying the same thing. I'm not sure that Kerry can beat the expectations that have been set for him, even if he does, in fact, deliver the speech of his life.

8. The debates are what the Repubs are really worried about.
Their candidate doesn't have much of a brain and what he does have is heavily medicated. Kerry is going to kill him in the debates and the Bush people know it. If I were Kerry, I would start out tonight saying, "Folks, I am not the greatest speaker in the world, but here is who I am and what I want to do."

22. I must admit it's worrisome that
his speech runs 55 minutes. If he doesn't grab everybody right off the bat, most won't stay with him for 55 minutes; that's a long damn speech. I hope he knocks their socks off for the entire time.
