a totally failed attempt by The Bush Crime Family to outshine Kerry. I think people here on DU are overreacting a bit. If this is the best they can do, there's nothing to worry about. At least in 1996, they had that toe sucking story that caused way more damage.

Actually, there were on average of 200 core leaders of Al Qaeda at the outset of the war in Afghansitan. Al Qaeda aka "The Base" is a in reality a loose confederation based upon an ideology that are spread through out various regions of the world. And to answer an earlier question from the person who doesn't care. This particular AQ leader based in Africa was responsible for the embassy bombings in that country. So he is a significant capture, thanks to the Pakistanis.
