I really gotta wonder if the not-been-there's get anything like the feelings I get. It's not in what they say as much as the body language, I guess. It's like there's a corner in me where I tuck my times I've spent with other 'nam vets that gets opened up when I see these guys together. I know the word 'soulmate' gets used exclusively for marital partners and lovers ... but there's very much the same feeling I get with other vets. And I see it with them, too. It's a strange and precious feeling.

I think that's why, while I can have some discomforts with some of Kerry's policy positions, I have this (inexplicable, I guess) feeling of 'trust' with him that I get with other 'nam vets, no matter anything else. I can fully understand the relationship he and his former crew-mates have. "I guess ya had to be there." :shrug:
