7. Wrong thing to do...repukes will clobber him for it
Actually, I was put off by this shameless display. He needs to concentrate on the issues or the repukes are going to hammer him on his Vietnam service. Regardless of what is in Kerry's mind, it was less than honorable truth be told. The less he brings it up the better. God forbid, if the repukes run ads qouting his 1971 testimony to the Senate about his vietnam service. I just think he should let it drop.

10. ??
We didn't spew it. It's on record of the proceedings of the Senate. The republicans can use it against him and make him look phony for the salute thing is all I am trying to say.

11. Bullshit...
Kerry served honorably. Heroically even. He left Vietnam with profound doubts. He testified before Congress while in his twenties. He's a real man.

What part of his testimony does he get hung on, exactly?

12. The war crimes part
The war crimes part. I am beyond my twenties but even back then I would never make something like that up and testify before the United States Senate and then later blame it on being in my twenties. The guy was leading troops for crying out loud. I am a former vet and have known all kinds of military men and women, good and bad. It's just my opinion that if he keeps bringing it out to the forefront to lure the undecided voters, the other side is going to make it ugly.

13. What part of that testimony was made up?
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 10:47 PM by Catch22Dem
Are you going to ATTEMPT to say war crimes and attrocities were not committed by Americans and ARVN soldiers? Uh, you better tell my Uncle Bob that. Bob was one of the VERRRRRY few tunnel rats. I've heard stories.

Kerry made it up and lied to the Senate? Fuck that shit! Kerry told the truth and helped bring an end to a bullshit political war fought by men and women who deserved better from bullshit politicians. You ain't rainin' on my parade tonight pal.

ON EDIT: And the only part of his testimony he blamed on his twenties was the language he used. Not the facts.

14. I re-read my post. Saw no mention of what we or ARVNs did
That's not what I implied at all. I am sure that it happened as it has happened on all sides in all wars since time began. My point is, he can't stand up there and tout this "band of Brothers", honorable service speech, when he testified to the exact opposite before the Senate. Why aren't all of his surviving crew members with him at the convention? Because they know he made the "war crimes" stories pertaining to the boat crews up to embellish a belief. While nobel to champion your cause, it's not noble to make things up about your fellow servicemen and then while running for President pretend that all was hunky dory.

22. You said it again!
What did John Kerry "make up" at that testimony? He said flat out, he served in free fire zones. That's where there is NO distinction between friend and foe. You simply pull the trigger on the guns mounted on that PBR and light the place up. What was made up?

He has every, EVERY right to tout his honorable service, because his service was honorable. His actions after the war, in this veteran's opinion was also honorable. He saved the lives of his men during the war, and he helped save the lives of the men after the war by working to bring them home.

Look, you have 31 posts, and you're calling Kerry a liar. I'm sorry, but it's just not working for me.

33. You're full to the brim ...
- I'm an Army combat vet and I have nothing but profound respect for John Kerry. He was a conscientious and brave soldier and had the moral courage to oppose an unjust war.
- If you had ever served, you might know that the military tells you it is your duty to report war crimes.
- John Kerry did his duty in and out of uniform. If you think his stellar record will backfire on him, I suggest you live on Planet Mars.

25. I am curious, as a former vet (did you cease to be a vet?)
What branch of service?
When did you serve?
Where did you serve?
Were you in combat?
How many days of combat did you experience?
Were you in command?
Were you wounded?

Unlike the unelected fraud, the moron and coward George W Bush, our guy has been there when the nation called.

BTW: When Kerry was recovering from his wounds, Bush was recovering from a hangover.

23. Bush reported for duty.
The time that he and his drinking buddies were out. They decided to drop some "duty" on a professor's front steps. But they puked from the beer before they could pull it off.
