5. I thought he was just great.
No need to be confrontational.

3. I think Kerry should have said
I dont care if the networks cut me off, my speech is good people will rush to flip to another channel, and the networks wouldnt dare do it anyways.

Some of those applause lines would have been much better if he let them linger for 10 or 20 seconds more.

4. One thing I PARTICULARLY hate about Bush's cadence
is those idiotic pregnant pauses with the blank looks around the room. UGH!

It was such a joy to see all these great speakers all week, and to have it capped off with a true masterpiece.

6. Verging on frenetic
I only tuned in for 5 minutes in the middle, so maybe I'm out of sync, or maybe I have a better perspective. But it seemed like he was galloping out ahead of the audience, and the mere fact that you're asking the question confirms my impression. It was a GREAT speech, in terms of its content and phrasing, but his pacing seemed a little, well, over eager to me.

9. I don't think you're supposed to wait for applause breaks
I think Kerry was using standard speech-giving tips--you pretend there isn't any applause during the speech, just like actors pretend no one in the audience is laughing. I think he was just right, and actually more professional than speakers who milk applause.

10. Too fast, but the speech was good enough so it didn't matter much
I was worried about the dialogue between crowd and candidate, and while it still wasn't there as much as I'd hoped, Kerry still turned it into a brilliant speech.

11. Funny how the pundits are criticizing Kerry's timing but
they never remarked about Bush's inability to speak only 2 to 3 words at a time. (While he waits for the next part of his speech to be fed into his ear piece?)

I mean Bush's sentences don't even sound coherent when he is supposedly READING because of the odd placement of pauses.

12. I would like to have seen him wait at at least 3 or 4 applause lines
but I understood the time limit and I know on monday, pbs went off the air right in the middle of clinton's speech.

I knew I could not trust the networks to stay with it.

And since kerry has watched the speech every night on tv and the reactions and the networks, I am sure he knew they would cut. And part of the whole thing was to be able to see the ending.

Too bad the media is so bad now.

I am more turned off to tv after watching them slice and dice our convention.
