Nah, I'll bet everybody knows the woman who was Prime Minister of Canada for a few short weeks a few years ago, before calling an election and seeing her Progressive Conservative Party reduced to 2 seats in the House of Commons.
;)
But it's worth doing a bit of reading up before watching the show. She's one of the founding members of the Club of Madrid, and I hope/assume she'll be talking about it.
http://www.clubmadrid.org/cmadrid/index.php?id=1 The Club of Madrid
The Club of Madrid is an organization dedicated to strengthening democracy around the world by drawing on the unique experience and resources of former heads of state and government of democratic nations. Working in partnership with other organizations and governments that share its democracy-promoting goals, the Club of Madrid provides strategic support and technical advice to countries seeking to consolidate their democracies and those making the first step toward a democratic form of government.
This is what real, democratic foreign policy is about. Offering assistance on a peer-to-peer basis, not telling others what to do, let alone trying to make them do it.
Bill Clinton is a member of the Club of Madrid -- he's the only former US president who is. Mikhail Gorbachev is also a member. Membership is by invitation/application *and* unanimous approval. No Margaret Thatchers in this one.
I've seen Campbell talking about this on tv, and it's really worth knowing about.
