Vermont loses another....
soldier in Iraq...A Marine Corps helicopter pilot from Shelburne was killed on Wednesday. The military says Lt. Col. David Greene, 39, was flying a mission over Anbar province when shots fired from the ground hit him. Greene is among the highest-ranking officers to die in the Iraq war. He is the twelfth Vermonter to be killed.
He was called to duty in January, leaving his wife and two children home in Shelburne.

We are a small State and we have given ENOUGH to this fuckin insane war...including my own Godson, Capt Pierre Piche.

2. I wonder if it's going to take
until every person in this country knows someone who has died or been mutilated over there?

Sadly, too many of us don't know anyone. Not that that makes me (or many other Americans) any less opposed to the war. I have two sons, 17 and 21, and there is no way I'm going to let them go.

At the very beginning of this awful war, I saw a photograph in the paper of a woman who's 21 year old son had been killed. She was at the funeral, holding the flag that had been draped on his coffin, and I've never seen a still photo so completely capture a posture of grief.

I cannot imagine how awful it would be to lose one of my own sons, and I know that every other mother's son is as precious to her as mine are to me.

Yeah, there are circumstances under which I would (however reluctantly) allow my sons to go off and fight for us, but the current situation is absolutely not that way.

3. so sad---
I'm very sorry for your loss, personally, and our loss as a nation. When I think of all that could have been... thank you for keeping us informed-- we need more awareness than a number. My IRR brother leaves in December, just before the change in power. peace.

4. I`m writing this through tears....
I`m so very sad, as a Vermonter, as an American. This bloody hell must stop.

I abhor George Bush for what he has done, for the lives he has ruined with his insane Rambo wannabe action hero bullshit. Let him go over there with two bottles of water and no Kevlar vest. Let him suck in his desperate breath on night patrol somewhere. Let him spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. To think that a band of dangerous idiots were able to kill thousands without leaving their leather office suites, without ever once knowing danger or sacrifice, is more than I can bear. We must stop this madness.

I`m so sorry to hear about your Godson. Peace.
