NY Repub "Compassion Across America" Stunt: Support Iraqi School Kids
while stiffing NY City school kids. Phony, cheap, thieving putzheads!

Here's an e-mail I got from the NY State Republican committee:

On July 7th the 2004 Republican National Convention officially announced the Compassion Across America Program. This is a community service program in
which Republican leaders across all 50 states will organize service projects in their communities. Compassion Across America events will begin the weekend of July 24 and culminate with service events in New York City the week of the 2004 Republican National Convention. Each delegation is responsible for organizing a service project within their state. They will also participate in a project that the
convention will assign to their delegation during the week of the convention.

For our state project we have chosen Operation Iraqi Children, an organization that collects and distributes much needed school supplies to children in Iraq. During and after Operation Iraqi Freedom, American soldiers found that Iraqi schools were in very poor condition, needing repairs and supplies. Through the reconstruction of Iraq the soldiers have been helping to improve schools and began requesting that friends and family send them school supplies to give to the children. As a result of this movement Operation Iraqi Children was formed by actor Gary Sinise and author Lauren Hilldebrand. For more information on the project please go to
www.operationiraqichildren.org.

We are asking members of our delegation, county chairs, state committee members, and other friends to assist us in collecting supplies to donate to this project. School Supply Kits can be, mailed to State Committee Headquarters in Albany, the Metropolitan republican Club in New York City, or dropped off at your local County Committee Headquarters. A kit guideline sheet is attached.
\
We encourage you to collect kits and supplies at your events over the next 2 weeks. The project will culminate on July 26th with “packaging parties” at State Committee Headquarters in Albany and at the Met Club in NYC where volunteers will gather to prepare the kits for shipment to the distribution center in Kansas City. County Committees that collect goods should contact Melissa Schwarz at
State Committee to arrange shipment of kits to State Committee prior to July 26th.

I hope that you will all help us with this great project. If you have any questions please contact Lolita Jackson at lolitaj@aol.com or Melissa Schwarz
mschwarz@nygop.org.

Chairman,
New York Republican Party

condition, needing repairs and supplies."

I'm sure that can be said about schools in many countries. Have these idiots visited an American school lately? I live in a prosperous suburb with "Blue Ribbon" schools -- and they are in need of repairs and supplies. Taxpayers here value education enough that we passed a special assessment to make needed improvements. Most districts are not so fortunate. The chimp is leaving every public school child in America behind. I hope New Yorkers hear about this stunt. Wouldn't it be great if Dems organized a similar drive to help New York schools?

3. These are the same Repubs who are stiffing NYC schools
despite a court order from the state to repay the city hundreds of millions of dollars owed NYC public schools over two decades.

That would be a brilliant counter move by the Dems! :toast:
