Chicago Sun-Times seeks to divide Barack Obama and Jesse Jackson Jr.
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 10:50 AM by wndycty
Just so you notice Ms. Michael Sneed is not a political columnist/writer, but a GOSSIP columnist. Feel free to drop her a line and let her know what you think about her column msneed@suntimes.com also letters@suntimes.com. Keep this kicked!

Is Jackson Jr. jealous of Obama's ascent?

July 30, 2004

BY MICHAEL SNEED Sun-Times Columnist

BOSTON -- It all began quietly enough.

A chance encounter in the elevator of the Hilton Boston Back Bay Hotel, where the Illinois delegation was staying ... and a whispered comment by Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. about the Democratic Party's new messiah, Barack Obama.

"If I'm not mistaken, I believe he took elements of Dr. King's original 'I Have A Dream' speech,' to use in his address," stated Jackson -- referring to the Democratic National Convention oratory, which has propelled Obama into the political stratosphere.

Hmmm. Compliment or criticism?

1. Why would quoting Dr. King be a problem?
It draws a thread of continuity through his message.

2. And I don't think Jesse was saying it was. . .
. . .he was observing. It was Sneed who drew the conclusion that Jesse was criticizing.

12. It was neither a 'complaint' nor a 'criticism' It was an observation
Kerry quoted Nixon, Lincoln, and Bush Sr. Does anyone want to start a fight?

4. Ever body has taken the dream speech and used parts of it
JJ jr was probably (if he said it) complementing the eloquent borrowing and use of those words by Obama and not disparaging him at all. Of course she must have been a fly on the wall to hear it.

5. Interesting to watch Jesse Jackson, Sr. at the convetion.
He RARELY applauded anyone. Most of the time he stood or sat there looking quite above it all. I remember he clapped for one speaker.. I thought it was Obama. Other than that, he never really applauded anyone. It was very noticable. I have no idea about Jesse Jr., but Dad seemed quite aloof during most of the convetion.

11. She's a Father Coughlan devotee (Jew hater of 1930s)
who had a radio hatefest program out of Detroit that blamed the jews for the depression and inspired much of American nazism. Sneed is a horrible woman.

8. this is the same shit they try to do with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton
trying to divide where there is none. it's what robert novak did when carol mosely braun joined the primary race. they act as if black people do nothing but listen to ONE single black leader and that certain people at times are fighting to be that leader. it shows the right wingers racism also.

10. Sneed's been a complete $hithd through the whole convention.
She hates the Dem Party more each day it seems. I liked Obama's retort that the African-American community is large enough for more than one leader.
