Nothing that Kerry claims about himself or that others claim about him trashes other Vets. this is what the Bush regime has brought this country to. Vets against Vets. how utterly sad.

1. Know what my husband says about this?
They were not up close and personal enough to the fight to care about humanity. He was. He knows Kery was. The vets who do the trashing don't see the action 99 percent of the time.

I don't understand how any vets could support Bush. It seems like there are enough guys who would give their left arm to be able to fly fighters, wouldn't it annoy the Cheney out of them to find someone who used up a training slot and then just said "I don't wanna take a physical" and walk away?

who don't even respect Veterans.

4. There are a few Thug veterans who loved to Kill and still do
We will deal with them if they show up here. They are sick---they were sick bums and bullies before they EVER WENT INTO THE SERVICE.

18. Bingo! That is exactly right. Got their "Attitude" before they
left home.

Hubby is VN Vet, 101st Airborne, Screaming Eagles. Told me a few really aweful stories. He doesn't like to discuss it much. Said there were CO's that were absolutely nuts as well.

Most of the military enlisted are fine people....some are like those you speak of.......it is sad.

I was with them also. What was his base camp? Mine was Camp Evans, a few kliks north of Hue. 2/319 Arty and 1/502 infantry.

25. Hubby's here trying to rattle off a reply....
Hubby says: 'He's old, grey, got a little bit of drain bamage' (lol)..having a hard time remembering. He says he was in communications--WIREMAN. He was there in 67-68. He says a school friend of his remembers better. That man was in a different airborne division.

He's sitting here "squeezing" his brain cells trying to remember. He's telling me that there were so many camps, he just can't remember his base camp. He is telling me that he and several of his friends never really got involved in the veterans affairs...they just clamed up afterwards...don't talk about it much. However, me speaking, we did meet some great people from VETERANS FOR PEACE at a rally last March.

We think that those that came home whole(hubby is suffering head trauma at this time) and stayed at least somewhat connected to other veterans/and affairs have a better memory of those events.

On the other hand, hubby just told me that one of the reasons he did stay away from some of the other vets was for the reasons given in this original thread....they were just too belicose..constantly talking about the killing and the bombs with hair standing on end while they recount the "rush" of it all. Hubby can't "go there"...................

He tells me to tell you: Welcome Home Bro
Peace.............

5. Sounds like a pipe dream
What are the chances of mobilizing people for an ugly negative task like this? If they get any takers they would have to be some scary nut cases.

8. This regime capitalizes on it, but it's a continuation from Nixon
It's the same old story, and they refuse to see the truth. Kerry and the other VVAW were criticizing the government -- their purpose was never to malign other vets.

I think John O'Neill was and is a small, bitter, and jealous man. The fact that he still can't get beyond it after all this time is amazing -- but the Republican party is still happy to give him some fame, using him to slam Kerry just as Nixon did.

13. Way Before Nixon, It's an Old Ploy
It's in the playbook, didn't Hitler use veterans, to help promote his agenda.

Wasn't it Douglas MacArthur who ordered the US Army to attack veterans
that were protesting in D.C. just to get what they had been promised, after WWI.

So you see it's not that new of a weapon, it's been used before.

As for Mr. O'Neill, it seems that he couldn't wait to get out of uniform once he got back from Vietnam. You would think that this
so-called Patriot would have made the Navy a career. If he had he would have given himself a little more credibility.

22. This is yet another example of Karl Rove tatics....
That Cheney'er would turn your grandma against you if it would serve his candidate. I've been voting since McGovern and this is without a doubt though the saddest way to try and discredit a Presidential hopeful that I've ever seen....

23. Vets Are Not Monolithic Any More Than Any Other Group
An eternal question is, "How can any (Hispanic/Black/Gay/Whatever) be a wingnut?" The vets group is not so clear cut as those other groups. Especially COMBAT vets: Somebody headed for a meat grinder is more "physical" than "mentally nuanced" by necessity (and this is not intended as a slur, per se).
