Doris Kearns Goodwin
She's been one of my favorite historians for years. Imagine my dismay to see her shilling on MSNBC at the convention.

When did Doris go over to the dark side?

;(

2. The minute she began hustling for coin
selling books, satiating her desire to remain pertinent.

3. What did she say, mac?
I'm a fan, too.

5. Hi Bertha!
:pals:

I'm looking for a transcript. Nothing specific jumps to mind. It's not so much what she said as her rapt enthusiasm, nodding assent, and lack of counterpoint to the patented media whore spin.

Transcript when I can find it.

11. she's been in the world of Staffers, then of academics, for a long time
Thinking and speaking clearly, sharply, and rationally, and making logical, authoritative points, all on the spot, can't be very easy. I know I couldn't do it and make good. I do well in writing. I know my limits.

Maybe she's not cut out for broadcast commentary and contemporary political analysis. And if she doesn't make it, that's fine with me. We have more than enough spinners & commentators & analysts.

(Go Twinkies!) :hi:

6. Her son is in Iraq
...or was, a few months ago when I heard her tell of it. I don't think she's all the way over but she sure ranked Sharpton with the other horses.

7. I lost a great deal of respect for her

After her little plagiarism dust-up. Her behavior during the convention (especially her comments about Sharpton's speech) was rude and callous.

12. I thought
her explanation of the "plagiarism dust-up" was quite believable. I don't hold it against her.

Plus, rumor is she boffed LBJ. How cool is that?

8. She's my third favorite plagiarist!
I hope I didn't steal that line from anyone else, like she did for her books.

9. I used to like Doris also.
She changed after being caught plagiarizing. It was shocking to see her agreeing with the attacks on Sharpton. You can never be certain of anyone.

10. It's funny, till last night
I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on the plaigiarism deal. Not now. Guess I'm shallow.
