I am so thrilled. Just received an email from a conservative |
|
friend of mine. We have been emailing back & forth on our feelings & thoughts on the bush administration & the election. He was a big bush supporter as of 18 months ago, but has not been thrilled with everything bush has been doing lately. This morning he emailed me a link to Kerry's speech with some of the highlight he was impressed with. HE IS VOTING KERRY! I would have never believed this could happen in early 2003.

Maintaining contact and staying in relationship meant that you had an ongoing influence with your friend. You kept him up on the bad things about the current administration, and helped prepare his mind to make a change should a palatable alternative come along.
Nurture this conversion in the weeks to come. The Bushistas are going to be trying extra hard to scare people into voting for them.

If he's a true, honest-to-God Goldwater-styler conservative, I can't say I'm surprised. Bush has been anathema to the ideals of true conservatism. And Kerry gave a great speech - a speech which went a long way in defining him as a strong leader.

my sister in Conn., who was a BIG Bush supporter, dropped her 'switching' bombshell at a family reunion two weeks ago. The dems in the crowd applauded her - the republicans in the group just kept chowing!
See, that shows you that there is hope.

5. I have a friend like that |
|
who decided several months ago he would not vote for Bush - but still won't vote for Kerry - I'm waiting for the day he comes over to our side, although he is in TX and I'm sure it won't make a bit of difference - but it would be good for my soul - because I like this guy and it makes me crazy that he supported Bush....

8. Great feeling, isn't it? |

One of my best friends, who is a die-hard conservative*, said drolly before the primary, "Pick somebody good please, I can't vote for Bush."
*and understands the difference between conservative and neo-cons and their fundie acolytes.

10. The strange thing is I am not so much upset by the votes |
|
that bush might get from my conservative friends that bothers me. It is the conflicted feelings I have thinking about people I love, respect & even admire for other things could believe bush is the best choice for our country. Sometimes I cannot wrap my little brain around that idea.
