Al Franken doesn't need Katherine Lanpher |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 01:52 PM by malatesta1137
The show works better without her, I am actually enjoying it! Franken 'lost' the discussion to Hannity, but that's due to Hannity's dishonesty in arguing, a trademark of Republicans.
Katherine Lanpher is irrelevant.

1. She's a radio veteran who reigns him in and keeps the show flowing |

7. IF by flowing you mean making sure she hits the "you got...hair?" |
|
commercials at the exact second regardless of topic or state of discussion, then yes she does make the show "flow" nicely. With that said I don't fault her so much as the programming is set up, if they are going to take calls set aside a full hour and if you have a good segment going, come back after break. Sometimes you'll go through 60 calls and other days it might be 1, but don't be so quick to go to the next damn bit! I especially hate it when they have someone I am truly interested on and they schedule what seems like 41 seconds to interview them! Al does a lot of pauses and stammers to get his thoughts together and you can have an entire "interview" with literally nothing said.
But, I still Love AAR!!

2. I didn't like her at first, but she's grown on me |
|
I think she is hysterical...she is always trying to rein him in but he manages to squeek out a few groaners anyway. She's the straight man to his comedian.

3. Without Katherine, the very real threat of uncontrolled scatology will |

loom. Luckily, Al was too tired and focused on Kerry's speech today or else we might have heard from Liam!
Seriously, I like Katherine Lanpher - she adds the professional touch to Al's show.

4. Lanpher sucks, but many love her |
|
you should have heard all the whining when she left her morning show on Minnesota Public Radio for Air America. It was almost like they kicked Garrison Keillor in the groin, the whining.
I've never liked her. I found her grating, patronizing, self-rightious and completely over-rated as a radio personality. She has a way of turning any halfway-decent interview into a smarmy me-fest. :puke:
Oh well, at least MPR is listenable from 9-11 AM M-F again, without her.

13. The Rush Limbaugh guy is on every day 45 minutes into the show, so |
|
if you just turn off the radio from the 45-minute to end-of-the-first-hour mark, you can avoid him.

8. The show would devolve very quickly without her |

Al's smart and funny, but admittedly immature in the radio world. Katherine provides an excellent foil to him, but mostly keeps him on topic and brings him back when he goes to far into scatology.

11. I think he's just plain........ |
|
immature. He interrupts the guests, one of the qualities I detest about the right, just to finish their sentences. Like he just has to let everyone know how smart he is. And, he name drops constantly. I don't care who he knows. I could care less. Sorry to rant, but he gets on my nerves. When he isn't acting childish he does have a lot to offer. Wish he'd stick to that script and leave his childish humor out of it. Whheeewwwww.......I feel better now.

12. Yes he does. Try listening to Ed Schultz, and you'll see how |
|
monotonous it gets just hearing a male voice talking to the guests.
