I got paid a visit by the Dept. of Homeland Security

thankfully I wasnt home. When I came home there was a card from Special Agent So and So from the DHS. I started freaking out (of course), thinking to myself "Oh my God, all those DU posts finally caught up with me." So as my asshole was chewing knots in my underpants I flipped the card over and read the note. It was for my mom...The agent is doing a background check on one of my moms clients. Whew, that was a close one...

Scary though, eh? I think that says a lot about our times...an unnanouced visit from the Spooks is now a real possibility...*shudder* God we need to take back our country from these militant fascists.

My husband was in a surly mood when he called back. Told her to go ask a librarian. He wasn't informing on anyone for any reason.

She said, "I'll just say 'I couldn't get hold of you.'"

3. Had a similar visit from the FBI some years ago.

My reaction was, "Oh shit, one of those guys I told to head for Canada back in the '60s sold me out..". Same thing, he was doing a background check on some neighbor I didn't even know.

GESTAPO? I would have freaked too. I'm expecting them to show up on my doorstep someday. I have signed so many petitions, written so many letters and emails....I KNOW I'm on a "Blacklist" somewhere. It is sad. So sad that this is what they have done to our country.

5. We send investigators out to do background checks on our

prospective employees, and when they leave a card in the door, people FREAK OUT. They call us back, wondering what they did. . .we have to settle them down before we can reassure them that we aren't "after" them.
