Everyone on this board and who supports this party owes Howard Dean
a huge thanks. He's the one who stepped out there ..... nearly by himself ........ and showed everyone how to stand up to these right-wing, chicken hawk bast*ards.

Sometime life ain't fair as I'm sure Dr. Dean must have felt last night but if it wasn't for him the positive feelings that are so pervasive here today would not have been possible.

Thanks, Doc. Your country owes you big time.

1. I agree, we all owe a huge thanks to Dean
If Kerry never ran, Dean would be my first pick.

2. Amen to that!
And the ovation he got showed that people realize how much he did for us. I'll bet you anything, though, that as much as he would have loved to be President, he's not too unhappy with how things came out.

4. Hear hear! To Dr. Dean! A brave patriot who reminded us what
Americans are and what they do at a time most in public life seem to have been hiding under their duct tape.

Thank you, Dr. Dean. Thank you for pointing to the x-rays and reminding us where our spines are! :toast:

5. we owe a great deal to all those who ran + and had to put up
with snide pundits and RW debate questioners etc

I was stunned when so many were running.....but I think that each one and the total effort really helped us as a party figure out a bit better who we are......and how diverse we are......and how important each group in the party (and the country) is

8. This board, and our country, owe Howard Dean; history will record...

the extent and nature of that great debt. Without an opposition, we had lost our democracy; Dr. Dean single-handedly revived a dormant opposition, gave it life, and started it on its way, I pray, to taking our country back.

9. I sincerely agree
And I thank all the Deaniacs for getting him to run for the nomination.

Did you all see the ovation he got before his speech? It was almost 103 seconds long.

11. the point I find most important about Dean
is that people who realized what Bush was doing felt so powerless. The government had been hijacked. The media was completely complicit - not a word of protest or even caution for what was happening. Not one word about all the people hurt by *'s policies.

It got to the point where we were wanting someone, anyone, to articulate what we were feeling - that it isn't wrong to want fiscal responsibility and to help our fellow human beings, and that the war was not justified. Dean did all that in a very positive, assertive way that reassured us that we weren't crazy for feeling like the world was turned upside down. Thumbs up to him. Congratulations to Kerry, too. We were blessed with a lot of great candidates. I can't wait to see what Dean does next. If he keeps throwing the presstitutes whoredom in their faces the way he did with Hannity, it's going to be great fun watching him in the next few years.

13. There was a time when I thought Dean would be the Dem nominee.
I'm still amazed at how the press went after him--for his passion. That is the turning point as I remember it. How contemptuous of the press! They could have just reported the facts.

As much as I dislike "Dr.'s" in general, I always have to remind myself that they're not all elitists, and that a few of them really do care about the greater good.

14. He gave out hope in our darkest hours
If America does somehow manage to pull out of its self destructive tailspin and returns to a new era of progress and enlightenment, then history will remember Howard Dean as the pivotal figure.

His campaign was the first I'd ever contributed to. I'm solidly on the Kerry/Edwards team now, partly because of Dean. Thanks Howie.

I was an Edwards supporter from early on but definitely believe that Howard Dean has really moved the party in the right direction. The party and Senator Kerry owes him a large thank you.

18. He inspired us.
At a time when none of the politicians were saying anything meaningful, we heard his speech on C-Span in March 2003. He said what was in our hearts then, and we began to hope.

Anyone remember the months after 9/11 when Moore fought to get his book released?

Howard deserves a big thanks too, but don't forget Michael Moore!

25. We had a great primary campaign.
All of the candidates helped hone our nominee, Dr. Dean being in my mind first among them.

I will forever be grateful to Dr. Dean for being there in our darkest hour. He certainly helped keep me sane.

Now we have a great nominee who justifies the hope we all put in him.

Let's kick some fascist ass! Go John Kerry!

26. LOOK at this first post-convention poll from Zogby--
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=849

IT'S WORKING!

Note the strong support from people who were not actively voting previously.

Dean energized the party and brought so many new people in. All of the primary candidates really pitched in and urged their supporters to help Kerry get elected; Kerry's speech last night reflected that.

AND IT'S WORKING!
