IMO, ala carte is essential to viewers being able to vote with their disposable consumer dollars. As I'm listening, the concentration is on how consumer pricing will increase as ala carte is implemented. Just heard that 66% of customers want ala carte subscriptions.

I absolutely love my C-Band programming where I already have ala carte programming. Next year I think I'm gonna drop CNN and Fox, they are much too expensive given the amount of commericals they show, and I hardly ever watch Faux, anyway.

My programming costs, for basic channels, are currently in the neighborhood of $11 per-month.

I was lucky that I was able to put up a "big dish", and that I was able to obtain the equipment for nothing more than a few hours of labor.

Thanks DirectTV and DishNetwork! It was your growth that allowed there to be so many people wanting to get rid of their big dishes, if only someone would remove and cart the equipment away.
