Could someone give me some clarification on Kerry's war vote?
I was under the impression that Kerry voted to give the prez the AUTHORIZATION to go to war, with the idea that it would be used as a last resort (it wasn't). I don't think they actually voted TO GO to war, just to give authorization to the president to use it if necessary (which he abused.) Is this inaccurate?

3. The resolution authorized the use of force in Iraq
but only after all diplomatic efforts had failed. Most people expected that Bush would let the onsite investigations play out, that he'd get UN support, that he'd build a real coalition.

He lied on all accounts. He gave Blix and Co. 48 hours to get out of the country and he invaded. We know the rest.

7. that he'd get UN support, that he'd build a real coalition.
And then they would have had to share the contracts and possibly the control of the oilfields..... not likely for oilfiends.

Money made these decisions more than logic, patience, or commonsense. That is just my take on some of this stuff.

4. Correct
it was authorization to go to war if necessary, not a vote to actually go to war.
