Be security conscious, DUers! The freepers are freaked!
As we all know, freepers are not capable of critical thought and are ruled by base emotions, such as envy and anger. After last night's superb convention, and *'s sinking poll numbers, they are feeling the pressure. In some cases, it will explode in violence.

Today my husband was driving to a dental appointment with a Kerry bumper sticker on his car, and some freephead passed him in "a beat up old car", his face contorted with rage, screaming "faggot!" at him. I mention the beat up old car only because it is a tragedy that the lower socio-economic people of this country are being manipulated to support *, who will only screw them.
Of course, I have been poor too, with a beat up old car, and didn't buy into the kool-aid, so I realize there are exceptions.

Somewhere one of these angry, freaked out wingnuts is going to go over the edge. So be aware and be safe. They are feeling cornered, especially after last night, and they are not rational.
:scared:

35. Last resort
Only as a last resort. If they aren't brandishing a weapon, I'll leave if possible. If I'm cornered up, there is going to be an ass whippin' goin' on. If they pull a deadly weapon and don't get me first, there is going to be a funeral.

It was a few months back. I blew the guy a kiss and asked him if he wanted to fight. He gave me the same look that a dog gets when he farts and wonders where the noise came from.

No worries. They're all talk.

7. I had similar things happen to me passing thru Northern Indiana
I drive a Prius with a DU sticker, a Kerry sticker, and a "Bush Knew" sticker, so its pretty obvious who I support.

First, three toothless wonders in a rusty 80s stationwagons with Bush/Cheney stickers all over it decided to pass me in the breakdown lane and make rude gestures...

Next a fellow in an SUV with hocky fan sickers all over it passed me and flashed me a "W"... Took a while to figure that gesture out.

They ARE scared.

10. DOMESTIC TERRORISTS

They are nothing short of domestic terrorists.

We need to treat them this way.

But this story is not rare -- Today I was in an uncomfortable position at a doctor appointment, when the nurse came in and started going on and on about how she hated Democrats.

Considering I was not dressed, I decided not to engage her, but she was frothing at the mouth, insane over the idea that Bush WILL BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE IN NOVEMBER.

Remember, the law, and the truth are on our side.

12. Y'know - it's funny...
I'm a relatively moderate (lately more liberal) Republican and I can honestly say I've never met a violent Democrat. But when I talk to those who call themselves Republican... I find I'm much more likely to hear hateful and violent speech. "We should just Nuke those damn sand-Ni**ers out of existance - wipe 'em out!" - I hear that one more than I care to. And while I like shooting skeet and target, most of these Jack-asses can't even be trusted with a tube of super-glue, let alone a fire-arm!

Stay safe.

38. I'm in Nebraska
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 08:36 PM by deuce98
and I had a near fist fight with a neighbor a couple months ago over a small sticker I have on my front door that says "He's not my President!" The last time I got into with him, he starting going on about the French and Germans. I got him good when I said, "Hey that sounds great coming from an asshole that drives a Volkswagen." Another neighbor stepped in at that point and I haven't seen that nut-job since.

This week I put Kerry stickers on both my wife's car and my truck, and a homemade 'Hope is on the way' placard in my front window. I'm just waiting for the reaction.

FUCK 'EM! WE'RE RIGHT!

Put the sticker on your car. Just keep your full coverage. I have 2 newer cars and I'll go straight to the police and TV stations if anything happens.

I'd recommend that anyone who has any serious vandalism go straight to the cops, file a report and then call your local TV stations and make a scene to get them to maybe cover it. If you frame it right you just might get the coverage.

20. Believe it or not
I live in California, in a "sure-thing" Kerry area. But my husband and I have both been hassled just for having Democratic bumper stickers. These people are anywhere that carries Limpball's hate show, which is everywhere. I'm glad you're not going to be intimidated (and neither are we), but stay safe. After all, these people are very angry, threatened, and sometimes armed. Not a good combination.

And if so, did you? Just curious, as I'm still waiting for my bumperstickers to arrive (still have the Clark04 one though). Here in Maryland, I see far more Kerry bumperstickers than GOP ones, but there's always the occasional idiot flying a confederate flag on his truck...

It's all part of the same mentality that makes them confuse unnecessary violence with strength.

In most states if someone hits you from behind because you 'saw a squirrel cross the road, they are 100% liable for damages.
I had a friend once who made ridiculous money letting people hit him from behind. Naturally I don't condone any such behavior due to the safety risks it entails... but it would be nice to watch someone's attempt at intimidation SEVERELY backfire!

Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 07:04 PM by Rebellious Republica
grief! If anyone is a vet, I highly recommend them. It confuses the hell out of most freeps, on one hand all of their brainwashing has told them to respect veterans.

On the other hand they really hate Democrats, it sure must short circuit their simple little brains.

Then you have some freeps that are veterans, most vets figure that other vets have earned their voice. While it may chap their ass, they leave you alone out of common respect for a fellow veteran.

I also have Veteran for Kerry yard signs, here is a thought, even if you are not a vet. Get some Veterans for Kerry bumper stickers and yard signs and put them up if you are concerned. If anyone asks if you are a vet, just tell them no, but you know one who asked you to put them up.

So, I am asking you to put one up!!!!

On edit: here is where you can get them http://www.kerrygear.com/

I walk around all day with my "Fuck Bush" and "Bush LIHOP" pins on my backpack's shoulder straps and get only smiles (and a bunch of people trying to figure out what LIHOP means but are too afraid to ask.)

There was one homeless guy outside my bank in Brooklyn with a Bush/Cheney 2004 T-shirt on (I WISH I HAD A CAMERA), but that's the only pro-Bush sentiment I've seen/heard. And he probably just needed a T-Shirt!! (I don't mean to be insensitive, but I might be a bit desensitized.)

Maybe among some of the fratboys who work on Wall Street or something. but in general, NYC is about as anti-Bush as you can get. Last poll showed he had like 24% approval rate, and presumably that was including all the boroughs (Staten Island tends to be rather conservative).

should be an interesting convention all right.

34. My experience with the Pro Lifers
I live in South Louisiana, small town...used to have a bumper sticker that read, "I'm Pro-Choice and I vote" on my previous car. I also wrote letters to the editor supporting balanced sex-education in the schools. In our local paper, you have to sign your real name to the letters. I received so many hate letters sending me to the flames of hell, and calling me baby killer, and saying they would "get" me, that I had to turn the letters over to the police. After a few phone calls (what was up with that?), they told me the majority of the letters came from the local Assembly of God church...my letter had been read out during a service, and I had been vilified. At the end of my short street, where I had to come out every morning on the way to work, they placed a giant sign, facing my car, which read "Abortion is Murder."

In the stolen election, I had every Gore sign ripped up...and I planted at least 10. You don't want to know what they left in its place one time. The only good thing to come out of all of that mess, was the students at the high school where I teach would read my letters to the editor all of the time, and flash me the V sign in the halls. They thought I was cool...sure hope they thought more than that. I was one of the leaders in our local teacher's union here, so the school board knew better than to mess with me, but they did ask me privately not to write any more letters. I ignored them then, and will ignore the ignorants now...my bumper stickers stay on, and my signs will be spotlighted in the yard. Cheney them all.

36. Bumper stickers
This is Goddess40s mom. I posted this on another site. Put your bumper stickers on your front bumper. That way the drivers that see it are coming toward you and not following you. They probably will not turn around to go after you. Also you can get magnetic bumper stickers that you can take off your car when you park it. This eliminates damage to your car when it is unattended.

it is tragic, really. I didn't add this to my original post, but I have received many positive comments on my bumper sticker, far more than negative ones. However, it's the negative ones that are scary. They are incapable of disagreeing with another's viewpoint in a civil way, or, heaven forbid, taking a "to each his own" attitude.

I also have one on my new Dodge Caravan.

Anyway, I have a "Defend America, Defeat Bush" on the Honda and I've been waiting for some road rage but so far no issues. My plan, though, is to refrain from giving a hostile freeper the middle finger but instead give him the Victory sign. On second thought, that may piss 'em off even more.

BTW, I saw several "Defend America, Defeat Bush" stickers on trash bins in downtown Pittsburgh. Apparently, somebody go a hold of a bunch of these moveon.org stickers and was stoked after Kerry's speech to spread the word.
