Have foreign leaders ever endorsed a candidate?

I'm just curious? Wouldn't it speak volumes if Tony Blair endorsed Kerry? Paul Martin of Canada? Etc. They are supposed to represent the liberal wing of their respective governments - so Kerry is on their side.

Is it Taboo?

Foreign leaders, in theory, have no control over our electoral process. And they shouldn't.

They should remain publicly impartial because they have to work with the winner, regardless of who it is.
