I'm totally offended by this and I'm a criminal prosecutor.

1. This is amazing.
I guess it's time for a writ of mandamus. Is that the correct procedure here? I'm a civil defense attorney in-house with an insurance company, so very, very rusty on these issues.

These people scare the hell out of me.

It is high time people just like you started making loud noises about things like this. People like me have no clout in the legal/ethical arena. But you guys do.
