Nancy Reagan: Just Say no.
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 07:16 AM by Norbert
"The widow of former President, and Republican icon, Ronald Reagan has told the GOP she wants nothing to do with their upcoming national convention or the re-election campaign of President George W. Bush.

Nancy Reagan turned down numerous invitations to appear at the Republican National Convention and has warned the Bush campaign she will not tolerate any use of her or her late husbands words or images in the President’s re-election effort.

“Mrs. Reagan does not support President Bush’s re-election and neither to most members of the President’s family,” says a spokesman for the former First Lady.

Reagan’s son, Ron, spoke at the just-concluded Democratic National Convention and writes in next month’s Esquire magazine that “George W. Bush and his administration have taken normal mendacity to a startling new level far beyond lies of convenience. They traffic in big lies.”

Ron Reagan is joined by his sister Patty in opposing Bush’s re-election effort. Only brother Michael Reagan, a conservative talk show host, supports the President and claims Ron is manipulating his mother.

Unlike the other Reagan children, Michael is not Reagan’s biological child. He was adopted by Reagan during the actor’s first marriage to actress Jane Wyman and often complains that his stepmother, Nancy, likes Ron best.

“He is her favorite,” Michael Reagan told Fox News. “Ron can do no wrong. I mean, basically that's it, Ron can do no wrong.”

Ron, however, claims George W. Bush has destroyed the Republican Party his father helped build.

Atta boy, Ron, Nancy and Patti. Michael, get with the program. I bet even the old man wasn't too keen on the bushies, especially the dim son.

I hope that in a close election Nancys absence has huge implications.

3. There it is... you wondered. Now, you know...
“Mrs. Reagan does not support President Bush’s re-election and neither to most members of the President’s family,” says a spokesman for the former First Lady.

Bless her heart!

4. I have yet to see any "mainstream" media refutation of this source.
Maybe I missed it?

I have been extremely skeptical of capitolhillblue, but Damn! They're really out there slamming BushCo, and I haven't seen anyone with a microphone or op ed column call them the "Fox of the Left" yet.

5. this is not a reliable source, but
every indication is that Nancy really DOES NOT support Bush's re-election. what we know for a fact is that ron reagan spoke at the dnc and that he will support kerry because of stem cell research issue. and we also know that nancy supports stem cell research and she supported ron speaking at the dnc and she has rejected offers to attend the rnc.

6. Things have GOT to be tense in the bush camp
Almost every bit of news coming out is spelling the demise of this regime. Panic mode! The scary thought is, a wounded animal is unpredictable...what stunt will they pull out of their asses?

7. Don't know exactly what they'll do
but you can be sure they are exploring and probing every possible angle that their devious minds can conjure up.

11. Yep
The thing is, it will be so obvious that most people will see through it and it will backfire. About the only thing that COULD help them, is if they pull out OBL. Even that would look a bit "planned" They are doomed, no way around it.

8. Here's a link to the Esquire article from THEIR web site.
http://www.esquire.com/features/articles/2004/040729_mfe_reagan_1.html

I haven't had a chance to read the entire article, but it is much more damning than just the snipit posted here.

9. Take it with a grain of salt, but also see kernel of truth at its center
I do not yet know what to make of this capitolhillblue.com. I have not checked it. I think people around here are smart for questioning it. But remember that there was no love lost between the Reagans and the Bushes. For God's sake, Ron is "sleeping with the enemy!" It would not suprise me if Nancy Reagan had serious issues with sending Shrub to the White House for his first legal term.

10. Reagan kept Poppy for 2 terms... But,
if Reagan would have probably hate * too.

Right on Nancy! If * uses Ronald's image inappropriately, sock it to them. Even Ronald would not support the outsourcing * does, nor would ROnald have insulted the American people in the process.
